Job Title: Boys’ Pathway & 2nd Team Physiotherapist
Department: Sports Science & Medicine
Responsible to: Head of Athlete Health & Performance
Location: Gloucestershire County Cricket Club, Seat Unique Stadium, Bristol and other venues
Term: Full Time, Permanent
Hours: Min 35 hours per week to include evenings, weekends and bank holidays as required

Role Purpose:
Gloucestershire County Cricket Club (GCCC) is looking for a Boys’ Pathway & 2nd Team Physiotherapist to join our Sports Science & Medicine team. Reporting to the Head of Athlete Health & Performance, you will provide high-quality physiotherapy treatment, injury management and rehabilitation support to the cricketers of Gloucestershire County Cricket Club. You will be required to attend and provide physiotherapy services at both home and away Under-18 and 2nd Team fixtures, while also supporting GCCC's men's professional squad and academy with training and rehabilitation. This broad ranging role may also involve working within the Senior Women's and Girls' Pathway environments as required.
Main Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality healthcare to the Boys’ Pathway (in the first instance) and wider GCCC playing squads, as required.
- Provide match-day physiotherapy coverage for Men's, Women's and Pathway teams, as required, ensuring the highest standard of acute injury management in the event of a player sustaining an injury.
- Ensure trauma management documentation is in place for each venue and that pre-match trauma management meetings are undertaken with the opposition Sports Science and Medicine team and other appropriate personnel.
- Undertake musculoskeletal assessments of GCCC players, as required, and develop evidence-based rehabilitation and conditioning programmes in collaboration with the respective squad Strength & Conditioning (S&C) coaches.
- Contribute to the development of Sports Science and Medicine (SS&M) team processes relating to optimal warm-up and recovery strategies.
- Promptly record all injury consultations and rehabilitation programmes on Teamworks AMS, the ECB's electronic injury management database.
- In collaboration with the SS&M team and coaching staff, monitor, review and manage individual players' workloads and wellbeing on a daily and weekly basis, with formal reviews conducted at monthly multidisciplinary support staff meetings.
- Undertake regular continuing professional development (CPD) to enhance knowledge of best practice in injury prevention and management, including participation in the annual ECB Science & Medicine Conference.
- Actively contribute to Sports Science and Medicine team in-service education, research and development activities.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required:
Sports Rehabilitation Specific Knowledge and Skills
- A good understanding of the physical demands of cricket and its associated injury profile.
- A sound understanding of the common musculoskeletal injuries and medical conditions affecting youth athletes, and their assessment, management and rehabilitation.
- A good understanding of growth and maturation models and their application within youth athlete development.
- A working knowledge of S&C principles and programming for elite athlete.
- A basic understanding and appreciation of workload management principles.
- A sound understanding of injury prevention, physical preparation and rehabilitation for elite athletes, including concussion recognition and management.
- The ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, contributing to overall player health and wellbeing.
- Good manual therapy skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and electronic medical record systems.
Essential Criteria
- A valid driving licence and ability to travel between venues as required.
- The right to live and work in the UK.
- Demonstrate high-standard clinical skills and have experience working in a team environment.
- Must be able to work autonomously and will show a commitment to continuing professional development and growth.
- Registration with the HCPC and Chartered Society of Physiotherapists.
- Appointment will be subject to a satisfactory Enhanced DBS check and relevant safeguarding checks.

Desirable Criteria
- Previous experience working formally or informally within cricket is beneficial but not essential.
- Experience working with elite athletes and/or teams, including youth athletes, in either a formal or informal capacity.
