Role Description
The Branch Assistant is a full-time, on-site role based at JDP’s branch in Fareham. This position supports day-to-day branch operations, including assisting customers at the trade counter, processing orders, and providing product information and advice.

Responsibilities

- Handling incoming calls and enquiries
- Preparing quotations
- Managing stock levels
- Helping with goods-in and goods-out activities such as loading, unloading, and checking deliveries
- Maintaining a clean, safe branch environment
- Supporting accurate documentation and system entry
- Collaborating with colleagues to ensure excellent customer service
The role may also involve occasional support for local deliveries, inventory counts, and promotional activities to help grow branch sales.
Qualifications
- Customer service and communication skills, including the ability to engage with trade and commercial customers in a professional and helpful manner.
- Basic IT and administrative skills, such as using order processing systems, email, and Microsoft Office or similar tools.
- Organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and maintain accurate records in a fast-paced branch environment.
- Teamwork and collaboration skills, with a positive, flexible approach to supporting colleagues across sales, warehouse, and operations.
- Numeracy and attention to detail for handling quotations, pricing, stock counts, and delivery documentation.
- Ability to perform manual handling tasks safely, including moving and lifting products in line with health and safety guidelines.
- Previous experience in merchant, trade counter, warehouse, or construction/civils environment is beneficial but not essential.
- Willingness to learn about drainage, civils, and related product ranges, with an interest in developing technical product knowledge over time.
