Watu Credit Uganda Ltd is looking for an experienced Branch Manager to lead our Arua & Packwach branch, drive business growth, and deliver exceptional customer experiences.
POSITION SUMMARY
JOB TITLE: BRANCH MANAGER
DEPARTMENT: ASSET FINANCE
REPORTS TO: REGIONAL MANAGER – NORTHERN REGION
DUTY STATION: ARUA & PACKWACH BRANCH
Role Summary
This position is responsible for overseeing the overall running and operations of the Branch, marketing the company’s products, and supervising the staff at the Branch.
Main Roles and Responsibilities
Stakeholder Management:
- Be the face of Watu in the Branch territory, maintaining strong relationships with Watu’s stakeholders including Boda Boda Associations, Police, City Council, and URA.
- Maintain business relationships with local motorbike dealerships, ensuring timely stock delivery and quality after-sales support to Watu’s clients as well as obtaining favorable credit lines if applicable.
People Management:
- Allocate work and supervise staff to ensure smooth operations and service delivery at the Branch.
- Communicate the expectation levels and vision of the Company to members of the Branch in line with the company’s corporate vision and goals.
- Provide feedback and run Performance Appraisals of the Branch/Unit members in line with the company’s performance appraisal system.
- Ensure a harmonious working environment in the Branch.
Loan issuance, Credit Risk and Loan Monitoring:
- Deliver the loan intake target set to the Branch by monitoring the assigned Sales team and by developing a pipeline of potential clients.
- Ensure proper and timely loan processing (max 2 hours), acquiring necessary documentation, and ensuring proper asset release (including but not limited to tracking installation).
- Ensure Credit Risk assessment and controls are strictly followed and be the guardian of the quality of the loan portfolio quality for your Branch.
- Assist the Asset Recovery and Emergency teams assigned to your Branch in performing their duties.
Customer Care and Customer Experience:
- Maintain consistent service delivery throughout the loan lifecycle from client on-boarding to query resolution and final issuance of logbook, in line with the set standards, policies, and procedures.
- Ensure the Branch displays up-to-date and accurate product marketing and information as guided by the head-office.
- Carry out customer satisfaction surveys to help identify process and/or product improvement areas.

Branch Management & Cost Control:
- Custodian of all Branch resources and ensure that they are properly utilized, from staff to rental space, security.
- Ensure that the Branch petty cash is well utilized and all expenses approved by the designated Head of Department.
- Propose cost-efficiency improvements within the Branch in liaison with the Head of Department.
- Ensure timely payments of Branch bills such as water and electricity with proper approvals.
- Ensure timely renewal and acquisition of Branch licenses and permits.
Reporting:
- Prepare periodical reports on Branch progress such as loan intake, cost, and marketing activities.
- Perform any other duty that may be assigned from time to time.
Minimum Qualifications and Skills Required:
- Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or any business related field with 3 – 5 years’ experience in retail management, motorcycle dealership operations, sales supervision, or the automotive/transport industry, including proven team leadership and branch operations management.
- Experience in field operations or dealership management, with knowledge of the local motorcycle market and customer behavior, is an added advantage.
- Leadership & People Management skills; Proven ability to lead, motivate, and manage a team effectively, experience in setting performance targets and conducting performance appraisals & Conflict resolution and team-building capabilities.
- Sales & Business Development Acumen; Strong understanding of sales processes and strategies, ability to drive customer acquisition and revenue growth & experience in expanding customer base and improving customer retention.
- Customer Service Orientation; Demonstrated commitment to high-quality customer service, ability to handle customer complaints and ensure customer satisfaction & experience in managing client relationships professionally.
- Operational & Administrative Competence; Ability to oversee daily branch operations, including cash management, resource allocation, and logistics, Familiarity with loan processing, documentation, and compliance procedures (if in financial services) & strong attention to detail and ability to implement company policies and procedures.
- Financial & Analytical skills; Ability to manage branch budgets, monitor expenses, and control costs, competency in preparing performance and revenue reports & data-driven decision-making and use of KPIs to guide performance.
- Communication & Interpersonal skills; Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to professionally represent the company to clients, partners, and stakeholders. Proficient in preparing reports, presentations, and formal correspondence. Fluency in English and at least one major local language spoken in the West Nile region (e.g., Lugbara, Madi, or Kakwa). Knowledge of Swahili is an added advantage.
- Problem Solving & Decision-Making; Ability to quickly assess issues and make informed decisions, proactive in identifying operational inefficiencies or risks and addressing them.
- Product & Market Knowledge; In-depth understanding of the company's products/services & Awareness of market trends, competitors, and local dynamics.
- Tech Proficiency; Basic proficiency in digital tools (Microsoft Office, Google sheets, ERP systems, reporting tools etc.) & Comfortable working with loan management systems or similar platforms such as MIFOS.
- Compliance & Risk Management; Knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements relevant to the branch operations & ability to enforce compliance and mitigate operational risks.
