Role Description

The Branch Manager role is a full-time, on-site position based in Biggleswade. The Branch Manager oversees day-to-day branch operations, including managing staff, coordinating sales activities, monitoring stock levels, and ensuring accurate order processing. This role involves maintaining strong relationships with contractors and trade customers, handling key accounts, and resolving any service or delivery issues promptly. The Branch Manager is responsible for achieving branch sales and profit targets, implementing pricing and promotional strategies, and ensuring compliance with company policies and health and safety standards. The position also includes coaching and developing team members, reporting on branch performance, and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and customer experience.

Qualifications

  • Experience in branch or store management, ideally within electrical wholesale, distribution, or a related trade environment.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, including team coaching, performance management, and staff development.
  • Proficiency in customer service and relationship management, with the ability to build trust with contractors and trade customers.
  • Solid commercial awareness, including sales planning, margin management, and basic budgeting or financial reporting skills.
  • Organisational and operational skills, such as inventory control, logistics coordination, and attention to detail in order processing.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to collaborate with suppliers, internal teams, and customers.
  • Comfort using IT systems for sales, stock management, and reporting; familiarity with industry-specific systems is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of electrical products or a willingness to learn technical product information; prior industry experience is highly beneficial.
  • Ability to work on-site full-time in Biggleswade and meet the practical demands of a busy trade branch environment.
  • Relevant supervisory or management experience; a formal qualification in business, management, or a related field is an advantage but not required.
