ROLE SUMMARY

As a trusted and strategic partner to the business, the Group Communications Team is responsible for shaping, protecting and strengthening the reputation of Global University Systems, ensuring that the Group’s vision, values and impact are understood by the audiences that matter most.

Operating across corporate affairs, brand and content, external engagement and partnerships, and colleague communications, the team develops and delivers strategic communications that strengthen stakeholder confidence, support business priorities and safeguard the Group’s reputation and credibility.

By aligning communications with organisational objectives, we enhance visibility, build advocacy and create compelling reasons for stakeholders to trust, engage with and champion Global University Systems and its institutions.

This role supports the delivery of brand, content, design, digital communications and administrative work across the Group Communications Team, ensuring all activity is executed efficiently, consistently and in line with agreed standards and timelines.

Working closely with the Brand & Content Director, the wider Group Communications and Creative teams, the role focuses on content and design execution, channel management, project coordination and administrative support across all key communications activities.

KEY ACTIVITIES

Design Support and Execution

  • Support the application of the Group brand strategy and visual identity across all communications materials
  • Create the design of various communications assets, including but not limited to posters, marketing collateral for the website, email templates, presentations, social media ads, etc., using brand guidelines
  • Project manage complex design requests with the external Creative team, from brief to final delivery, managing feedback at every stage
  • Maintain and update brand assets, templates and internal files, including SharePoint and other shared folders, to ensure materials remain accurate, accessible and up to date
  • Apply brand guidelines consistently when preparing communications materials

Content Delivery and Editorial Execution

  • Write and edit Group-level content, including but not limited to website content, social media campaigns, corporate reports, employer branding and marketing materials
  • Ensure all content is clear, consistent, audience-focused and aligned with the Group’s positioning and reputation goals
  • Support initiatives to strengthen storytelling and messaging across communications channels, ensuring the Group communicates its impact effectively
  • Support the delivery of content across channels, ensuring communications follow the agreed tone of voice and editorial standards

Digital Channels and Audience Engagement

  • Support the day-to-day execution and management of the Group’s digital communications channels, including but not limited to the corporate website and Group social media channels
  • Keep track of content across all Group digital channels and monitor audience engagement to help ensure a consistent and compelling brand experience across all digital touchpoints
  • Manage the content calendar across multiple Group-owned channels, ensuring alignment with organisational priorities and communications objectives
  • Use audience insight, analytics and performance data to continuously improve content effectiveness, reach and engagement
  • Carry out competitor and market research across websites, social media, digital tools and content formats to support improvements in channel performance and digital presence
  • Ensure digital channels effectively communicate the Group’s reputation, impact and strategic priorities to key audiences
  • Support initiatives to strengthen the Group’s digital presence through innovation in content, platforms and user experience

Support for Internal Communications and Employer Brand

  • Support the delivery of internal communications and employer brand activity, ensuring content is aligned with the Group’s identity, values and messaging framework when needed
  • Apply agreed tone of voice, visual presentation and content standards across employee-facing communications
  • Work with colleagues responsible for internal communications to prepare and deliver employee-facing materials and support employer brand activity across employee and candidate touchpoints when needed

Project Coordination and Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Coordinate Group communications projects by tracking tasks, timelines, deliverables and dependencies across brand, content, events and digital activity
  • Maintain project trackers, content calendars and reporting tools to support visibility, organisation and smooth day-to-day delivery across the team
  • Support reporting and continuous improvement by gathering data, flagging issues and helping implement improvements to processes, content delivery and channel performance
  • Work with colleagues across PR, media relations, executive communications, ESG, internal communications, creative and other teams to support consistent messaging and joined-up delivery across Group communications activity
  • Support the preparation and delivery of content and materials for events, partnerships, sponsorship activity, stakeholder engagement and employee and ESG communications

Operational and Administrative Support

  • Manage communications-related administration, including purchase orders, subscriptions, supplier coordination and the maintenance of accurate, up-to-date trackers and systems to support efficient ways of working
  • Monitor and manage shared communications inboxes, ensuring queries are responded to, flagged, redirected or followed up appropriately
  • Present operational information clearly to stakeholders, helping improve visibility of progress, delays, outstanding actions and process bottlenecks
  • Identify ways to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of day-to-day ways of working
  • Maintain internal files, digital assets and administrative systems such as SharePoint, ensuring information is accurate, organised, and up to date
  • Support the day-to-day administration of communications activity, including managing requests, following up on approvals, capturing meeting actions, supporting events and helping keep team priorities on track
  • Research and evaluate AI tools and other technologies that could support communications activity, improve efficiency and strengthen delivery across the role’s areas of responsibility

REQUIREMENTS

Knowledge/Skills

  • Good understanding of digital communications, including website content management, social media and audience engagement tracking
  • Strong writing, editing and formatting skills, with the ability to produce clear, accurate and engaging communications materials
  • Ability to apply brand guidelines, tone of voice and editorial standards consistently across communications materials
  • Proficient design skills, with the ability to create clear, engaging and brand-aligned assets across digital and print media formats
  • Strong organisational and coordination skills, with confidence working with colleagues, stakeholders and external suppliers
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, deadlines and competing priorities, with a practical and delivery-focused approach
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks to deadline, communicate progress clearly and manage stakeholder expectations proactively
  • Ability to use analytics, reporting and research to support content improvement, channel performance and effective ways of working
  • Good understanding of how communications supports organisational objectives, with an interest in higher education, reputation and audience engagement

Experience

  • Experience in a communications, marketing, digital, or creative role, with responsibility for supporting delivery across content, channels, coordination and day-to-day operations
  • Experience writing, editing and formatting content for different audiences and channels
  • Experience updating websites, supporting social media activity and helping manage content across multiple channels
  • Experience creating visual assets across digital and print formats
  • Exposure to the Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Pro and After Effects, with experience using Canva, Figma or equivalent tools desirable
  • Experience applying brand guidelines, tone of voice and content standards across a range of communications materials
  • Experience coordinating projects, administrative processes or operational tasks, with the ability to keep work organised, maintain trackers or systems, and support delivery to deadline
  • Experience working with internal stakeholders, suppliers or agencies, with the ability to communicate clearly and manage expectations proactively
  • Experience managing tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment, including responding to last-minute creative requests when required
  • Experience supporting administrative and operational processes, including maintaining trackers, managing records, coordinating requests and helping ensure work is delivered efficiently and on time.
