Brand Design Lead

Stockport – Hybrid
Up to £60,000

Does the idea of leading a company through a rebrand excite you? The opportunity to own the creative and really build out and define a brand identity and showcase it absolutely everywhere?

Well read on, as this may be the opportunity you’ve been waiting for.

BD Talent has a fantastic client who operate in the FinTech sector. To say they’ve been smashing it over the last 20 years is an understatement, they’ve grown their turnover year on year, grown the team and now have their eyes set on the next phase of growth.

They want to become easily recognisable and trusted and to do that, they are launching a newly created brand identity.

The brand identity has been built on years of research and has been developed by an external agency partner.

It’s now sitting there, ready to go, and what we need is someone with prior experience leading the rollout and activation of a rebrand – from a hands-on, design perspective (this is not a marketing role, this is very much a design role).

The role will focus on:

  • Working closely with the senior leadership team to turn the brand strategy into scalable design systems, standout campaigns and creative platforms
  • You’ll strengthen brand equity and rollout the new brand everywhere – across all customer journeys, all touchpoints, anywhere and everywhere they have a digital or offline presence
  • You’ll build on this brand identity, launching a mascot and giving it its very own voice, mannerisms etc. They want people to think of the company every time they see this character.
  • You’ll also lead a team of 3 and the studio – developing processes, skills and ways of working
  • This will include incorporating AI tooling where appropriate – this role sits within the marketing team so could a self-serve AI prompt library free up the designers' time to focus on bigger, more gritty work for example?
  • It will be your role to establish design principles, standards and frameworks and create clear brand guidelines – for both existing brands/products and others that they acquire

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

They don’t have these skills available internally at the moment so we’re looking for someone who has all of the above experience.

In summary, we need the following:

  • A strong design background
  • Experience managing and developing a team
  • Strong examples of rebrand or brand transformation projects
  • Evidence of embracing AI and new creative tools
  • The seniority and gravitas to lead the studio and influence across the wider business

We need the rebrand or brand transformation experience, this is absolutely key and makes the role different from others where the focus is perhaps more on brand campaigns – we’re looking for longevity here and someone who has really got a brand recognised and noticed.
