Board Intelligence is a technology and advisory firm on a mission to make boards more effective, and through them, build better businesses and benefit society.
Over twenty years we have established ourselves as the market leader in governance and board effectiveness, trusted by more than 80,000 directors, executives, and governance professionals globally, including across the Fortune 500, FTSE 100, and OMX 30. That trust has been earned through depth of insight, rigorous advisory work, and a track record that newer entrants simply cannot replicate.
We have invested in applied AI since 2020, well ahead of the market, and that early conviction has paid off. Our AI-powered platform and smart board advisor give us a competitive advantage that is widening, not narrowing. In 2024, K1 Investment Management, the leading B2B Enterprise SaaS investor, backed us to accelerate that position further. We are now growing fast, with a proven commercial model spanning both mid-market and enterprise, and a product suite that has become a necessary addition in high-stakes board environments.
The people joining us now will shape how we scale. We are deliberate about how we do that. Our founders and leadership team are deeply invested in keeping the culture that got us here: thoughtful, high calibre, and genuinely human. Ambition and balance are not in competition at Board Intelligence.
If you want to work at the intersection of AI and governance, on problems that matter at the highest level, this is a strong place to be.
Our Mission
We unleash the potential of organisations through the science of board effectiveness, building better businesses and benefitting society.
The Role
Board Intelligence is scaling fast as a B2B SaaS business, and our brand is working harder than ever — across our websites, our campaigns, our reports and our social channels. We are looking for a Brand Designer to join our small, high-calibre design team and take real ownership of that output.
This is a hands-on role for someone ready to step up. You might be an experienced junior designer ready for more responsibility, or already early into a midweight role. What matters most is appetite: you want to own work end to end, and you bring ideas rather than waiting to be told what to make.
Two things make this role different from a standard brand design job. The first is digital. A significant part of your time will be spent designing pages for our websites — responsive, accessible, and built from our design system — working directly with the Creative Director. The second is AI. Brand design is changing fast, and we want someone who is already changing with it.
You will work alongside our Senior Brand Designer and our Product Design team, and closely with the Content, Brand and Growth teams across Marketing.
Main Responsibilities
- Take on-brand work from brief to finished asset with minimal supervision — across web, social, campaign and print — surfacing blockers early rather than going quiet.
- Design new pages and landing pages for our websites: responsive across breakpoints, meeting accessibility standards, and built from our existing design system rather than from scratch.
- Work with developers through handover, checking that what ships matches what was designed.
- Create visual content for LinkedIn, Instagram and Facebook in support of the Content team — including carousels, motion and short-form video — designed for how people actually consume each platform.
- Bring ideas to social, not just execution: propose formats and treatments that earn attention and generate leads, and use performance data to work out what to do more of.
- Build templates and reusable assets so content can scale without losing quality.
- Design campaign and marketing collateral — reports, whitepapers, event materials, presentations and email — applying the brand system across formats and adapting it to new contexts without breaking it.
- Apply our brand guidelines consistently, and flag where the system is being stretched or needs to evolve.
- Use AI tools in your day-to-day workflow, and share what works with the rest of the team.
- Communicate proactively: share work in progress early, present clearly in critique, and articulate the thinking behind your decisions.
- Connect your work to what the business is trying to achieve — understand the marketing goals behind a brief, and design against them.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

How We Work with AI
Brand design is changing fast, and we want someone who is already part of that change — not waiting for it to settle. Practical AI literacy is a core requirement for this role, not a nice-to-have.
You already use AI regularly in your day-to-day design work — for image generation, ideation, concept development, copy, asset production and research — and you can show us how it has changed the way you work.
You have a clear point of view on where AI genuinely adds value and where brand judgment is essential. You protect craft, originality and brand integrity rather than trading them away for speed.
You share what you learn. When you find a workflow that works, the whole team gets better at it, not just you.
You are energised by a role in flux. As tools and expectations change, you adapt your ways of working rather than defending the old ones.
Being aware of AI tools and having experimented with them is not enough for this role. We will ask you to walk us through real examples of work where AI played a part, and what you decided not to use it for.
Person Specification
- Hungry to grow, and clear-eyed about your own gaps — you know what you are not yet good at and you are actively working on it.
- You take ownership. You pick work up and run with it, and you ask for help early rather than late.
- You develop ideas, not just execute instructions. You will suggest the thing nobody asked for.
- Comfortable with change. Our tools, our brand and our ways of working will all move under your feet, and that appeals to you rather than unsettling you.
- Collaborative and open: you seek out feedback, act on it without ego, and give it generously to others.
- Curious about the business, not only the craft — you want to understand what the work is for.
- Organised and calm across several projects at once, in a small team where priorities shift.
- High standards. You care about the last ten percent that most people skip.
Required Skills and Experience
- Commercial experience as a brand, digital or graphic designer, in-house or agency — broadly two to four years, though we care far more about what you have made than how long you have been making it.
- A portfolio showing strong visual craft across digital channels: typography, layout, hierarchy and composition, and brand-led work applied consistently across formats.
- Experience designing responsive web pages or landing pages, and working within an existing design system or component library rather than designing every element from scratch.
- A working understanding of digital accessibility — colour contrast, type sizing, hierarchy, alternative text — and familiarity with WCAG AA in practice.
- Demonstrable social media design experience across LinkedIn, Instagram or Facebook, including examples where a creative idea — a carousel, a motion piece, a series — measurably drove engagement or leads.
- Comfortable producing motion and animated assets (for example After Effects, Jitter, Rive, Figma or Lottie), or clear evidence that you teach yourself new tools quickly.
- Hands-on, demonstrable use of AI in your design workflow — be ready to show us what you have built and how.
- High proficiency in Figma, including working with components and shared libraries, alongside strong Adobe Creative Cloud skills (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign).
- A clear communicator who can explain creative thinking to people who are not designers, and take feedback from them well.

Nice to Haves
- Experience designing for B2B, enterprise, professional services or another regulated context.
- Front-end familiarity — HTML and CSS, or hands-on experience with Webflow, Framer or a CMS.
- Editorial and long-form design: reports, whitepapers and data-heavy documents.
- Email design, including an understanding of what actually renders reliably.
- Illustration, art direction of photography, or data visualisation.
- Experience working alongside a growth or performance marketing team, using campaign data to inform creative decisions.
- Experience contributing to or maintaining a set of brand guidelines.
What Good Looks Like in This Role
- The web pages you design ship on time, hold up at every breakpoint, meet our accessibility standards, and need less rework because you built them from the system.
- The Content team moves faster because the visual content they need is ready, on brand, and better than what they would have thought to ask for.
- Our social output stops being a series of one-offs and becomes a recognisable, repeatable visual language — with engagement and leads to show for it.
- Work leaves your hands finished, and briefs come back with fewer rounds because you asked the right questions at the start.
- Your AI workflows are adopted by other people in the team, not just used by you.
- The brand is more consistent across touchpoints because of your attention to it — and you are the person who notices when it slips.
