A MORNING IN THE LIFE OF A BREAKFAST SUPERVISOR AT THE MILNER YORK
Breakfast Supervisor What you'll be doing
- Lead the breakfast team to deliver a warm, welcoming and efficient service from the moment our early-rising guests arrive.
- Brief and support the breakfast team each morning, ensuring everyone understands their roles, responsibilities and service priorities.
- Oversee the set-up of the breakfast buffet and dining area, ensuring everything is fresh, inviting and presented to a high standard.
- Monitor the buffet throughout service, ensuring food is replenished promptly and presentation remains excellent.
- Ensure tea, coffee and additional breakfast orders are delivered efficiently and that guests receive attentive, friendly service.
- Take responsibility for the smooth running of the breakfast operation, responding confidently to guest requests and resolving any issues that arise.
- Lead by example when welcoming guests, creating a positive and memorable start to their day.
- Ensure tables are cleared and reset efficiently, maintaining a clean and welcoming dining environment throughout service.
- Work closely with the kitchen team to ensure food preparation, replenishment and service run smoothly.
- Support with basic food preparation and food handling when required.
- Ensure all food hygiene, cleanliness, health & safety and company standards are consistently maintained.
- Provide local knowledge and recommendations to guests, helping them make the most of their stay in York.
- Support the management team with training, coaching and development of breakfast colleagues.
- Monitor team performance and provide feedback and support to ensure consistently high standards.
- Assist with stock control, wastage management and ordering where required.

What We're Looking For
- Previous experience in a hospitality, food service or breakfast environment, ideally with supervisory or team-leading experience.
- A confident and approachable personality with a genuine passion for delivering excellent guest experiences.
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate and support a team during a busy morning service.
- Excellent communication skills and the confidence to deal with guest queries and resolve issues professionally.
- Great attention to detail, with pride in maintaining high standards of presentation, service and cleanliness.
- Strong organisation and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise effectively during busy periods.
- A team player who enjoys working closely with both the kitchen and front-of-house teams.
- A good understanding of food hygiene and health & safety standards.
- Flexibility and reliability, including the ability to work early mornings, weekends and bank holidays.
- A positive attitude and willingness to get involved – we're looking for someone who leads from the front.
