Description

Newsquest London is looking for an ambitious and driven breaking news reporter to help lead our live news coverage across the capital. This is a fast-paced digital role at the heart of our newsroom, responding to major incidents such as crime, transport disruption and developing stories as they happen.

The successful candidate will combine strong traditional news judgement with a confident, responsible use of AI tools to improve speed, accuracy and efficiency – while always maintaining the highest standards of journalism.

They will be excellent at using social media to find pictures and video of live incidents, as well as getting quotes and taking their own video from the scene, including being in front of the camera on Facebook Live.

What we offer

  • A frontline role in a busy, digital newsroom
  • Opportunities to develop both journalistic and technical skills, including AI-assisted reporting
  • A supportive, ambitious team environment
  • Hybrid working with regular time in our central London office
  • The chance to help shape the future of digital and breaking news journalism at Newsquest.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
