The role suits professionals who bring expertise, positivity, and a patient-focused approach, and who want to be part of a forward-thinking Breast Cancer service.
What you’ll be part of
- A major regional service delivering screening and symptomatic care across Southmead Hospital and Weston General Hospital.
- A varied clinical portfolio that includes the full range of breast imaging activities, with opportunities to contribute to teaching, audit, and service development.
- A collaborative clinical environment where Radiologists and Breast Clinicians work closely together, supported by a team with an excellent reputation for developing colleagues.
- A leading teaching hospital setting that offers exposure to complex cases, peer learning, and ongoing professional growth.
This role combines meaningful clinical impact with the support and development opportunities of one of the UK’s largest teaching hospitals, making it an excellent next step for clinicians who want to grow their skills while contributing to a high-performing service.
Main duties of the job
- The symptomatic breast work will involve one-stop clinics and further assessment of the recalled patients.
- Participation at MDT meetings.
- Depending on experience, the role may also involve ultrasound guided VAE.
- There would be an expectation that the successful candidate would become involved in training, guiding, mentoring, and continued professional development of Specialist Registrars in Radiology, Advanced Practitioners, and Consultant Radiographers.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
