From our 50,000 sq ft state-of-the-art facility in North Yorkshire, Allerton Steel delivers large-scale, complex fabrications with precision and care. With 60-tonne lift capacity, advanced CNC machinery, and in-house 3D modelling and surveying, we provide expert support from design to inspection – trusted by contractors across the UK for quality, reliability, and technical excellence.
About the Role
Allerton Steel is looking for someone to join our existing team and develop a career in Bridge Estimation.
You don’t need years of estimating experience. All levels of experience will be considered, and training will be provided where required. What’s important to us is that you’re organised, have a good eye for detail and are keen to learn.

What Will You Be Doing?
As part of the estimating team, your role will include:
- Assessing new enquiries to make sure they fit our requirements.
- Preparing cost estimates and obtaining supplier quotations where needed.
- Preparing clear and accurate customer quotations.
- Reading engineering, architectural and design & build drawings.
- Producing material take-offs from drawings.
What Are We Looking For?
You should:
- Be able to read and understand fabrication drawings.
- Be comfortable using Excel, Word and Outlook.
- Be organised and able to manage your workload.
- Have excellent attention to detail.
- Communicate well, both verbally and in writing.
- Be keen to learn and develop within the role.

CAD experience would be an advantage but isn’t essential.
Job Details
- Location: Office-based
- Hours: 37 hours per week
- Monday–Thursday: 8.00am–5.00pm
- Friday: 8.00am–1.00pm
- Salary: Dependent on experience, suitability and ability
