c£47,000 plus excellent benefits including a reduced working week.

This historic group continue to be revered for their dedication to some of the most iconic structures shared daily by many.

As they continue to carefully manage these structures they are seeking to appoint a Bridge Technician to join their dedicated team of mentors and scholars. Reporting to the Bridge Project Manager the role will involve:

  • Assisting colleagues to develop and deliver a prioritised programme of maintenance projects for the bridge assets. To manage delivery of projects to the required quality, cost and programme, with a focus on carbon reduction in accordance with the Trust’s Net Zero Strategy. This typically equates to bridge management - 60%

  • Additionally working with colleagues to prepare, place and manage contracts for works and services including the Term Maintenance Contract. Carrying out regular surveillance inspections and annual condition surveys; collating and monitoring abnormal load movements; assisting with the management and enforcement of parking areas and monitoring carbon emissions for all bridge-related activities.

  • A bonus to your role will be to support the group`s work within engineering education and representing them at external events.

  • There will be involvement in supporting colleagues to prepare and manage budgets and programmes for allocated projects, where you will assist with document control and records management.

  • You may also be asked to place orders for goods and services within the terms of the approved Officer Scheme of Delegation as well as instruct contractors within the terms of the relevant contract and the Officer Scheme of Delegation.

It is hoped that you will have had some bridges exposure and be qualified to at least EngTech MICE, TIStructE or BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Civil Engineering.

Any relevant experience in the maintenance and management of bridges and other highway structures will be seen as essential, combined with a sound understanding of structural behaviour and knowledge of NEC forms of contract desirable. Some experience of health and safety on construction sites will be seen as beneficial and the ability to plan and conduct site surveys essential.

Being IT aware (MS Office) and a knowledge of AutoCAD is seen as key.
