This is a hands-on, project-focused role, with responsibility for supporting live, business-critical systems and assisting the wider Engineering team when needed.
As a Broadcast Engineer (Projects Focused) at Global, you will:
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver technical projects: Assist with the installation, commissioning, upgrade and documentation of broadcast studios, production facilities and associated technical systems.
- Support live broadcast operations: Maintain and support live radio, podcast, audio and video production environments, resolving faults quickly and methodically to minimise disruption.
- Work across broadcast technology: Support studio audio, routing and Audio-over-IP systems; radio playout and automation platforms including RCS Zetta and GSelector; and video, ingest, streaming and production systems.
- Partner with production teams: Provide practical technical support to presenters, producers, journalists, creators and other teams, including for Outside Broadcasts, live events and temporary facilities.
- Maintain reliable ways of working: Keep technical documentation up to date and follow incident and change-management processes. Participate in the engineering on-call rota for urgent issues outside normal working hours.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
