Broadcast Automation Engineer – Live Production

We are seeking an experienced Broadcast Automation Engineer to support and enhance automated gallery workflows for live and near-live broadcast productions. This role is central to ensuring newsroom-driven automation operates reliably, predictably, and at pace in time-critical editorial environments.

You will work across editorial, automation, and gallery systems, helping production teams deliver seamless live output while diagnosing and resolving workflow issues under pressure.

The role

As a Broadcast Automation Engineer, you will configure, maintain, test, and support rundown-driven studio automation workflows. You will ensure that technical systems respond accurately to editorial changes and that gallery teams can rely on automation throughout live transmission.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot automated gallery workflows in live broadcast environments.
  • Support rundown-driven automation, including vision mixer control, graphics triggering, clip playback, source recall, and studio device control.
  • Work closely with editorial, production, gallery, and engineering teams to ensure workflows operate effectively from the newsroom through to transmission.
  • Provide hands-on support during live and near-live productions, responding quickly to technical issues and last-minute editorial changes.
  • Diagnose faults across newsroom, MOS, automation, graphics, and gallery-control layers.
  • Participate in testing, validation, and operational-readiness activities for automation updates, templates, workflow changes, and gallery upgrades.
  • Help improve workflow resilience, consistency, documentation, and gallery standardisation.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
