Broker Development Manager – South West
Product Line: Small Commercial
Location: South West England (field-based, with regular broker travel)
Salary: Up to £80,000 + benefits + bonus
About Us
We're a specialist commercial insurance provider known for our broker-first approach, fast decision-making, and appetite for Small Commercial risks. As we continue to grow our footprint across the South West, we're looking for a Broker Development Manager who already knows the region and its brokers inside out.
The Role
This is a field-based role responsible for growing and deepening broker relationships across the South West, driving profitable Small Commercial new business and retention through your existing network. You'll act as the face of our business to brokers in your territory — building trust, delivering strong technical support, and positioning us as a preferred market for Small Commercial business.

- Develop and manage a portfolio of broker relationships across the South West, growing Small Commercial GWP in line with agreed targets.
- Proactively identify and onboard new broker partners, expanding our distribution footprint across the region.
- Deliver regular broker visits, training, and product updates to maximise engagement and quality of business flow.
- Work closely with underwriting to ensure broker feedback shapes appetite, pricing, and proposition.
- Monitor broker performance, income, and loss ratios, taking action to protect profitability.
- Represent the business at broker events, roadshows, and industry functions across the South West.
- Keep up to date with local market conditions, competitor activity, and broker sentiment, feeding insight back into the business.
What We're Looking For
- Proven track record as a Broker Development Manager, BDM, or Account Executive within commercial insurance, ideally with Small Commercial (SME) product experience.
- Strong, established broker connectivity across the South West — this is essential, not desirable.
- Confident, credible relationship builder who can win trust quickly and sustain it over the long term.
- Sound technical understanding of Small Commercial products and underwriting principles.
- Self-motivated and comfortable managing a field-based diary independently.
- Full UK driving licence, with willingness to travel regularly across the territory.
