Broker Trader - Listed Commodities

About the Opportunity

A well-capitalised trading firm is expanding its commodities business in London and is seeking a Broker Trader to support a growing listed derivatives franchise. The role offers the chance to work closely with experienced traders across commodity markets while contributing to the development of new trading initiatives and market coverage.

This is an opportunity to join a highly collaborative environment where individuals are encouraged to take ownership, contribute ideas, and have a direct impact on the growth of the business. The successful candidate will gain exposure across commodity futures and options markets while working alongside traders, quants, and technology teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers and market participants across global commodity markets.
  • Act as a key point of contact between trading teams and external liquidity providers.
  • Support the execution and management of futures and options trading activity.
  • Work closely with traders to monitor positions, market developments, and risk exposures.
  • Identify opportunities to improve execution quality, market access, and workflow efficiency.
  • Analyse trading activity and market data to enhance performance and decision-making.
  • Collaborate with quantitative, technology, and operations teams on process improvements and new initiatives.
  • Stay informed on market structure developments, exchange changes, and evolving liquidity conditions.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a Broker Trader, Execution Trader, or similar market-facing role. Ideally looking for traders with between 2 and 5 years of total work experience.
  • Experience within futures, options, commodities, or other exchange-traded products.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a quantitative, business, economics, engineering, mathematics, or related discipline.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Proficiency in Python, SQL, or similar data-analysis tools is advantageous.
  • Ability to thrive in fast-moving markets and make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build relationships both internally and externally.
  • A proactive mindset with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
  • Genuine interest in financial markets, trading, and market structure.
