About the Role
Are you organised, proactive, and confident working in a fast-paced environment where your work can make a real difference to vulnerable children, young people, and adults?
We are looking for a Brokerage Officer to join our Social Care Brokerage Service. You will play a key role in sourcing and coordinating high-quality, cost-effective care and support arrangements in line with assessed needs and authorised care plans.
Working closely with Social Workers, health colleagues, hospitals, internal teams, external providers, families, and carers, you will help arrange services including home care packages, residential and nursing placements, respite care, and specialist support.
The role requires strong organisation, communication, and negotiation skills, alongside the ability to manage competing priorities and respond effectively to urgent or complex situations.
You will
- Source and coordinate care and support services in line with assessed needs and authorised care plans.
- Arrange home care packages, residential and nursing placements, respite care, and other specialist support.
- Source high-quality, cost-effective placements and support packages for vulnerable children and young people, considering needs across education, health, and social care.
- Manage planned and urgent placement requests, including supporting timely hospital discharges.
- Negotiate fees and placement arrangements in collaboration with managers, Finance, and Contracts colleagues.
- Maintain accurate records of vacancies, allocations, placements, and available services.
- Liaise with residents, families, providers, and professionals to ensure clear communication and timely implementation of care arrangements.
- Monitor and escalate service concerns, delays, and complaints through the appropriate channels.
- Maintain accurate systems and monitoring information and produce reports when required.
- Build effective working relationships with internal teams, external providers, and partner agencies.
- Contribute to the ongoing improvement of brokerage services.
About You
We are looking for someone who can work confidently in a busy environment while maintaining accuracy, professionalism, and a strong focus on positive outcomes.
You will:
- Have experience in social care, brokerage, commissioning, placements, health, housing, or a similar service environment.
- Be highly organised and able to manage competing priorities effectively.
- Have strong communication and negotiation skills, with the confidence to work with providers, professionals, residents, and families.
- Be able to respond calmly and effectively to urgent requests and changing circumstances.
- Have strong administrative and IT skills, with the ability to maintain accurate records.
- Be confident working with fees, service costs, and financial information.
- Have a good understanding of quality, value for money, and person-centred care.
- Be proactive and solutions-focused, with strong problem-solving skills.
- Understand the importance of safeguarding, confidentiality, and sensitive communication.
- Be committed to delivering respectful, timely, and person-centred services.
