Job Description – Broking & Schemes Manager

Overview

  • Reporting to: Commercial Director
  • Location: Based out of East Grinstead and Brighton offices
  • Region: Covering all offices across the South East

Purpose of the Role

To improve placement outcomes and maximise the commercial value of the Hub’s schemes, facilities and insurer relationships. The role will oversee existing schemes and facilities, identify opportunities to consolidate and place blocks of business, negotiate new and improved market solutions, and develop strategic insurer relationships. It will also act as the senior escalation point for significant insurer, capacity and placement issues.

Key Responsibilities

Schemes & Facilities

  • Own the commercial oversight of the Hub’s schemes and facilities.
  • Review and renegotiate arrangements to improve capacity, coverage, pricing, service and commercial terms.
  • Identify and develop new schemes, facilities and portfolio solutions.
  • Monitor utilisation and performance and address underperforming arrangements.
  • Ensure broking teams understand available solutions and where they should be used.

Portfolio Broking & Placement

  • Identify books of business suitable for consolidation or coordinated placement.
  • Develop and present portfolio propositions to insurers.
  • Negotiate capacity, coverage, pricing and terms using the scale of the Hub.
  • Coordinate implementation of agreed placement solutions.
  • Support significant or complex placements where senior market involvement is required.

Insurer Relationships & Escalations

  • Own strategic relationships with priority insurers.
  • Build relationships with key underwriting and senior decision-makers.
  • Coordinate insurer reviews, visits and strategic engagement.
  • Maintain visibility of insurer appetite, capacity and market opportunities.
  • Act as the senior escalation point for significant placement, capacity, service and relationship issues.
  • Provide the Leadership Team with clear insight into market opportunities and issues.

  • Generate measurable commercial value through improved market arrangements and placement outcomes.
