About This Programme
Brookes Engage is a free, national outreach programme run by Oxford Brookes University for Year 12 students at state schools across England, offering subject masterclasses, online content, one-to-one mentoring from current university students, and a residential summer school experience. Students can explore one of seven subject streams — from Law and Computer Science to Creative Industries and Nursing — building real academic skills alongside a supportive peer network from across the country. One of the standout benefits is a contextual offer to study at Oxford Brookes, typically around two grades lower than the standard entry requirements, giving applicants a meaningful advantage. All travel and meals for in-person events are covered at no cost, removing financial barriers to participation. Completing the programme also provides strong personal statement material and end-to-end UCAS support, making it an excellent springboard for university applications.

You must be in the first year of a two-year Level 3 qualification (e.g. A-Levels or BTEC), studying at a non-selective state school or college in England, living in England, and aged 16 or over. You must also meet at least one additional criterion: eligible for free school meals or a 6th form bursary; currently or previously in local authority care; a young carer; of Black or minority ethnic origin; hold official refugee or asylum seeker status; or live in an area of higher socioeconomic disadvantage (IMD decile 1–4). Applications are also considered from students with a disability, mental health condition, or specific learning difficulty; those from a traveller family; those estranged from both birth parents; or those with a parent/carer who has served in the armed forces in the past six years.
