Purpose of the Post
To provide British Sign Language Interpreting in a variety of environments.
Core Job Description
- Provide face to face and/or remote BSL/English interpreting in a variety of environments.
- Make preparations wherever necessary, including specialist vocabulary and the subject/person(s) involved.
- Translate correspondence and phone calls.
- Liaise with team members regarding work.
- Undertake continuous professional development as appropriate and in line with the needs of the service.
- Attend regular team meetings.

General Duties
- To represent SDCA at events and meetings as necessary.
- Any other duties as may be appropriate to achieve the objectives of the post or to assist SDCA in the fulfilment of its objectives in line with the post holder's grade, abilities, and aptitudes.
- To ensure that comments/complaints are dealt with in accordance with the SDCA’s procedure.
- To comply with and actively promote SDCA policies.
- Ensure safeguarding responsibilities are upheld at all times, in line with organisational and local safeguarding procedures.
