Summary

The BUH UKI Nordics is responsible for leading a strategically important multi-country business with full P&L accountability and a team of 40+ employees. This role drives sustainable growth, profitability, and market leadership in some of the most advanced and structured healthcare systems globally, diverse in nature among them. Success requires strong strategic leadership, deep customer engagement, and the ability to navigate complex, value-driven purchasing environments.

The role emphasizes long-term partnership building, value-based selling, and clinical adoption of innovative surgical solutions.

The BUH leads a multi-country commercial organization and plays a key role in shaping regional strategy while ensuring disciplined execution across all markets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Disciplined cost management

    • Identify and build on the noticeable differences between countries to maximize our pricing and growth opportunities to optimize profitability
    • Deliver sustainable and predictable business performance within highly structured and price-sensitive healthcare systems
    • Lead annual planning, forecasting, and performance management processes
    • Drive pricing discipline and contract optimization within centralized procurement frameworks
    • Identify risks and opportunities and implement corrective actions as needed
  • Leadership and Team Development

    • Lead, coach, and develop a diverse team of ~40 FTEs across multiple countries
    • Partner closely with EMEA and global leadership teams to ensure alignment with strategic priorities
    • Lead activities of the Medical Affairs and Clinical Specialists team
    • Establish clear performance metrics, pipeline rigor, and accountability across markets
    • Build a high-performance, collaborative culture focused on accountability and continuous improvement
    • Develop leadership capabilities and succession pipelines across the cluster

  • Strategic and Commercial Execution

    • Ensure alignment of commercial strategy with healthcare system priorities and identify growth opportunities aligned with needs and patient outcomes
    • Lead engagement with complex healthcare systems, including NHS structures, HSE, and Nordic regional authorities
    • Navigate multi-stakeholder decision-making processes, including clinical, procurement, and economic stakeholders
    • Drive coordinated, cross-functional engagement for large and strategic accounts
    • Champion value-based healthcare approaches, articulating both clinical and economic benefits of Advanced Surgery solutions
    • Drive adoption and penetration of Advanced Surgery portfolio across the region through evidence-based positioning
  • Stakeholder Engagement and Relationship Building

    • Build strong, trust-based relationships with senior external stakeholders, including hospital leadership, Clinicians and Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and procurement and value analysis committees
    • Collaborate with Finance, Supply Chain, Regulatory, Training and HR functions, locally and regionally
    • Contribute regional insights to inform commercial strategy and portfolio execution
  • Compliance and Governance

    • Ensure full adherence to regulatory, legal, and compliance standards across all markets
    • Maintain strong governance, transparency, and ethical business practices
    • Promote a culture of trust, integrity, and accountability

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated success in strategic account management and value-based selling
  • Experience with pricing, tenders, and centralized procurement environments
  • Strong strategic thinking combined with execution excellence
  • Deep understanding of value-based healthcare and evidence-driven decision-making
  • Advanced stakeholder management and influencing skills
  • Financial acumen and disciplined business management
  • Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing, geographically dispersed teams
  • Leadership and talent development capabilities
  • Ability to navigate complex, matrixed organizations
  • Customer-centric mindset with strong focus on long-term partnerships
  • Commercial acumen: ability to connect clinical value and customer needs to commercial outcomes; strong account planning and customer relationship building skills
  • Analytical capability: strong critical thinking; comfort with market/competitive intelligence, KPI definition, dashboards and using data to optimize programs
  • Compliance and integrity; consistently complies with regulations and standards and protects Baxter’s public reputation
  • Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma (e.g., Green or Black Belt certificate) and process improvement tools are a plus

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or advanced degree preferred
  • 7–10+ years of experience in MedTech or healthcare industry
  • Proven track record of (multi)-country commercial leadership with P&L responsibility

Compensation

We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. The estimated base salary for this position is 120,000 GBP- 165,000 GBP annually. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than of the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based upon location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors. This position may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, commission, and/or long-term incentive.
