More About Your Role

As Build Director for our South West Region, you'll take overall responsibility for the construction strategy, delivery and successful completion of multiple developments across the region. As the senior leader within the regional construction team, you'll provide clear direction and leadership, ensuring developments are delivered safely, to the highest quality standards, within budget and agreed timescales, while achieving excellent customer satisfaction outcomes.

You'll lead and develop the Regional Construction team, embedding best practice throughout the design, pre-construction, construction and defects phases. Working closely with Commercial, Technical and Sales colleagues, you'll ensure the right subcontractors and suppliers are appointed, technical information is delivered effectively, and build programmes are aligned to sales targets and customer expectations. You'll champion Health, Safety and Environmental standards across all developments, build strong relationships with NHBC and drive quality excellence, including the delivery of Pride in the Job award-winning sites.

Essential Criteria

  • Proven Director experience managing construction operations within a housebuilding environment
  • Demonstrable experience leading, developing and motivating multi-site construction teams.
  • Strong knowledge of residential design, build processes, construction standards and property-related matters.
  • Experience managing multiple developments while controlling budgets, programmes, quality and health & safety performance.
  • PLC housebuilder background dealing with a high volume of builds (500+ annually)
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with Commercial, Technical and Sales functions to deliver successful development outcomes.

You enjoy leading teams, driving performance and creating a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. With excellent commercial awareness and a methodical approach to problem solving, you're confident making decisions and taking ownership of outcomes.

Ideally, you'll be educated to degree level or hold an equivalent construction-related qualification. You'll also have experience using construction programming software and be comfortable analysing project performance to ensure developments remain on track.
