Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Who we look for

We are interested in speaking with experienced lawyers who want the autonomy of running their own practice while remaining part of a collaborative and supportive professional community.

Legal expertise

You will be an established and respected lawyer, typically with at least 8 years' post-qualification experience. Our partners come from leading City, national and international firms, senior in-house positions, boutique practices and independent firms.

Entrepreneurial mindset

You are excited by the prospect of building your own practice and taking greater ownership of your professional future. You may be looking to operate as an individual practitioner or have ambitions to build and grow a team around you.

Client-centric

You will have an established or developing client following and enjoy building long-term client relationships. While Spencer West provides a highly collaborative environment, strong internal referral networks and opportunities to work with colleagues across jurisdictions and practice areas, partners are expected to generate and grow their own client relationships and sources of work. This opportunity is best suited to lawyers who are excited by the prospect of building their own practice and taking ownership of its success.
