About Vita

Vita Technologies helps growing organisations build high-quality technology products quickly, much of it in healthcare, life sciences and other regulated industries. We're out to disrupt the stagnant outsourced software delivery and consulting industry, and with all the tools and capabilities now available to us, it's a really exciting time to do it.

The Role

We're looking for a Builder: a junior developer who is AI-native, hardworking and hungry to learn. You'll use AI agents to build software and AI systems on real client projects, working alongside our senior Orchestrator, and on smaller projects you'll own the work end to end.

This isn't a vibe coding position. It's a junior engineering role. We use AI to generate a large amount of our output, but you have to understand the engineering fundamentals behind it, and if you don't understand all of it yet, you need the appetite to learn.

What You'll Do

  • Use AI agents such as Claude Code and Codex to build software and AI systems, on prototypes and client builds.
  • Collaborate with the Orchestrator on briefs and designs, so you understand what the system is for and the best way to get there.
  • Test your work properly: create test processes, check your own and the agents' output, and test with a colleague who didn't build it.
  • Fix bugs and make small changes on the client systems we support after launch.
  • Write clear documentation as you go, including the traceability regulated projects need.
  • Help build the shared templates and agent tooling we use across clients.

What You'll Learn to Do

We expect you to grow into the role, with support. Over time you'll:

  • Deliver smaller projects end to end, from the brief through design, build, testing and user acceptance testing to release with the client.
  • Design for simplicity and value, cutting a client's wish list down to what actually matters. AI development can go a bit crazy, and it's easy to build a load of nonsense.
  • Help clients adopt AI, setting up the tools, connections, skills and automations that make it stick.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

We'll be looking for the underlying capability to get there, not for everything to be polished on day one.

Who We're Looking For

Someone really driven, who feels there's more to their potential than they've had the chance to show. You'll want to learn the latest skills, work across lots of different client projects, and be one of the first in at a startup, working with really capable people as the team grows.

What We Care About:

  • Ownership and hard work: you own the work, even when it's hard, and keep pushing your own development.
  • Ingenuity: clever, practical ways through problems.
  • Positive disruption: challenging how software has always been delivered, to make it better.
  • Thoughtfulness: thinking before we build, and looking after each other and our clients.
  • Candour: honesty with clients and each other, especially when something has gone wrong.

This is a small, fast-moving business, not a large organisation with a structured graduate scheme. The work is intense, exciting and demanding, and you'll be trusted with real responsibility early. If you're looking for a steady, predictable role, this probably isn't the right move for you, and that's fine.

What You'll Bring

Up to a couple of years' experience, from a degree, a bootcamp, an apprenticeship or teaching yourself. What matters most is output: something you've created and taken through the whole lifecycle yourself, whatever its size or industry.

Essential

  • Software you've built and deployed, that real people have used, and that you've iterated on based on their feedback. A hobby project, an organisation's system or your own business all count.
  • A fundamental understanding of how systems fit together, ideally from a bootcamp, an apprenticeship or a degree.
  • The judgement to critically evaluate what AI agents generate, and to spot when it's rubbish.
  • Everyday use of AI coding agents such as Claude Code, Codex or Cursor.
  • A working knowledge of at least one mainstream language, ideally TypeScript or Python, and Git.
  • Clear written and spoken communication.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with production systems, cloud platforms, CI/CD or automated testing.
  • Exposure to building with LLM APIs, MCP servers or agents.
  • An interest in healthcare, life sciences or MedTech.

Working with Us

  • Salary: from £27,000, depending on experience.
  • Location: office-based in Ashby-de-la-Zouch, travelling to client sites alongside the team.
  • Learning and development: learning is at the core of the whole company. I'm taking certifications myself, and we pay for your courses, exams and certifications, including the Claude certifications.

How to Apply

Apply here with your CV, then email contact@vitatechnologies.co.uk with two things: a link to something you've built (a live app, a Git repo or a short demo video), and a short cover letter telling us in your own words why you're suited to this role and the environment we've described. If your best work is private, describe it and we'll talk it through. What you've built and your cover letter matter most, so applications without them won't be considered.
