Charterhouse is seeking a General Builder/Multi-Trader to join the busy Estate department.
In any one year the type and size of work which is undertaken by the Estate department is enormously varied, ranging from reactive maintenance through to major capital development projects. Work is either carried out by our in-house team of 15 artisan and technical tradesmen supported by sub-contractors, or we will approach small to medium contractors (through to large national contractors) to carry out our larger areas of project work. At all stages we look to make the most financially attractive procurement decisions whilst meeting challenging programming deadlines and ensuring that we continue to provide quality accommodation for our staff and pupils.
An attractive salary is offered, together with benefits including membership of the Sports Club, Employee Assistant Programme, cash health plan and contributory pension scheme.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
