Location: Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, NR4 7UY
Type: Permanent, Full Time (Monday to Friday with participation in an emergency on-call rota as required)
Salary: £30,785 per annum + excellent benefits

As a Carpenter in our Estates team at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, you'll help maintain and improve a critical healthcare environment that supports patients, visitors, and healthcare professionals every day. Your expertise will ensure the hospital's buildings remain safe, functional, and fit for purpose.

From carrying out repairs and maintenance to supporting new works projects, you'll play an important role in creating and maintaining environments where healthcare can be delivered effectively. What You'll Do
- Carry out building maintenance, repairs, and refurbishment works within your core trade discipline.
- Complete planned and reactive maintenance activities across the hospital estate.
- Assist with other trade activities where required, following appropriate training and supervision.
- Work independently to diagnose building fabric defects and implement effective solutions.
- Support new works and improvement projects as directed by supervisors and management.
- Maintain accurate records, timesheets, and other work-related documentation.
- Contribute to audits, surveys, and inspections as required.
- Participate in the emergency on-call rota and respond to urgent maintenance issues.
- Support the development and induction of apprentices, trainees, and new colleagues.
- Comply with all health and safety policies, procedures, and legislation.

Requirements
- NVQ Level 2 minimum or City and Guilds qualification, apprenticeship, relevant certification, or equivalent practical experience within a building trade.
- Proven knowledge of building maintenance, repair techniques, and construction methods.
- Ability to identify faults, assess issues, and determine practical solutions.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize workload effectively.
- Good communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with colleagues and customers.
- Ability to work under pressure, use your own initiative, and adapt to changing priorities.
- Commitment to high standards of health and safety and customer service.

Vetting and Checks
- A Standard DBS check will be carried out for this position. This includes spent and unspent convictions, cautions, reprimands, and warnings as permitted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act. An Occupational Health Questionnaire will also be completed so we can ensure you have the necessary support to perform your duties.
