About The Role:

Shift Pattern: Monday to Thursday: 07:00–16:00 and Friday: 07:00–13:00. The role also includes participation in the site's on-call rota, approximately 1 week in every 6 weeks, providing out-of-hours maintenance support when required.

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Building Maintenance Fabric Engineer to join a multi-disciplinary facilities maintenance team.

The role will provide hands-on support across building fabric, plumbing and general maintenance, helping to ensure the site is maintained to a safe, compliant and professional standard.

The Building Maintenance Fabric Engineer will be responsible for completing planned preventative maintenance (PPM), reactive maintenance, fault containment and remedial works, as well as supporting additional and quoted works as required.

Working as part of the wider facilities team, the successful candidate will be expected to take ownership of allocated tasks, identify defects and potential issues, and ensure works are progressed from initial response through to satisfactory completion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned and reactive building fabric maintenance across the site.
  • Complete a range of general maintenance and repair activities, including doors, locks, hinges, fixtures, fittings, walls, ceilings, flooring and other building fabric elements.
  • Undertake basic plumbing maintenance and repairs, including taps, toilets, sinks, wastes, traps, pipework and minor leaks within the individual's level of competence.
  • Carry out general handyman and maintenance duties as required to support the operation of the facility.
  • Complete allocated PPM tasks in accordance with the maintenance schedule and required standards.
  • Respond promptly to reactive maintenance requests, identifying faults and carrying out appropriate repairs.
  • Where an immediate permanent repair cannot be completed, ensure the issue is made safe and appropriately contained before arranging or escalating for further works.
  • Take ownership of maintenance tasks and support their progression from initial identification through to full completion and close-out.
  • Identify defects and additional works during PPM, reactive maintenance and general site inspections.
  • Provide information to supervisors and management to support the preparation of quotations for remedial and additional works, including materials and labour requirements.
  • Carry out approved quoted works, minor projects and additional customer requests where required.
  • Assist other members of the multi-disciplinary engineering team when additional support is required.
  • Liaise with specialist contractors where works fall outside the scope or competence of the role.
  • Ensure tools, equipment and materials are used correctly and maintained in a safe condition.
  • Maintain accurate records of completed works, including appropriate updates to the maintenance management system.
  • Communicate professionally with customers, colleagues, supervisors and other site stakeholders.
  • Maintain good housekeeping standards and ensure work areas are left clean, safe and presentable following maintenance activities.
  • Work in accordance with site procedures, risk assessments, method statements and relevant health and safety requirements.
  • Report safety concerns, defects and potential risks to the appropriate supervisor or manager.
  • Support the wider facilities team in maintaining a safe, reliable and professional working environment.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
