Join the team at Gilpin, our beautiful 5-star hotel and Lake House estate in the heart of the Lake District. We’re looking for a full-time Building Maintenance Technician who brings practical skill, calm focus, and a proactive, guest-centred approach to maintaining our stunning environment. You’ll take ownership of day-to-day maintenance tasks, support the wider Estates team, and help ensure every space across the hotel, spa, restaurants, and Lake House is safe, immaculate, and running smoothly.
Salary: £30,654–£32,292 per year
Gratuities: £351–£526 per month (average, points-based)

We’re seeking a reliable, skilled, and solution-focused Building Maintenance Technician to join the team. In this role, you’ll carry out general repairs, support planned preventative maintenance, respond to departmental requests, and uphold the safety, compliance, and presentation standards that define Gilpin. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, problem-solving, and contributing to a supportive, high-performing hospitality operation.
✨ Your Role as Building Maintenance Technician
- Carries out day-to-day building maintenance, repairs, and minor installations across the estate.
- Supports planned preventative maintenance to keep facilities safe, compliant, and functioning smoothly.
- Responds to maintenance requests with efficiency, care, and a focus on the guest journey.
- Ensures all equipment, systems, and spaces meet safety and compliance standards.
- Assists with upkeep of grounds, spa facilities, and accommodation areas as required.
- Maintains accurate records, completes checklists, and reports issues promptly.
- Works collaboratively with Estates colleagues, contractors, and suppliers.
- Upholds the high standards of presentation that define the Gilpin guest experience.
🎓 What You Bring
- Experience in maintenance, building services, or a multi-skilled technician role.
- Strong practical abilities across plumbing, electrics, joinery, or general repairs.
- A steady, organised approach when unexpected issues arise.
- Enjoys variety, problem-solving, and supporting a collaborative team.
- Willingness to support a 7-day hospitality operation with varied tasks.
- A positive attitude and commitment to high standards.

Salary: from £30,654 to £32,292
Gratuities are allocated on a points basis, depending on development tiers. Although variable, average levels are projected as being from £351 to £526 per month.
Hours: 45 hours per week.
