BMS Engineers – Multiple Disciplines

Location: East Tilbury, with site work across London and the South East
Employment type: Full-time, permanent
Salary: Competitive and dependent on experience

About Knight Controls

Knight Controls provides building management and energy-management services to commercial buildings across London and the South East.

Our business covers BMS maintenance, project delivery, system upgrades, remedial works, commissioning, controls integration, energy monitoring and analytics. We work with a range of systems, including Trend, Tridium Niagara, Siemens and Optergy.

Available Roles

We are interested in speaking with BMS engineers who may be considering their next opportunity.

We recruit into clearly defined engineering roles based on each candidate’s experience and preferred area of work. Engineers will not be expected to cover every discipline listed below.

BMS Service and Maintenance Engineers

Service engineers will primarily be responsible for:

  • Carrying out planned BMS maintenance visits.
  • Investigating faults and operational issues.
  • Diagnosing controller, network and field-device problems.
  • Identifying and reporting recommended remedial works.
  • Reviewing alarms, trends and system performance.
  • Completing clear and accurate service reports.
  • Liaising with clients and site teams.
  • Attending reactive service calls where required.

BMS Project and Commissioning Engineers

Project and commissioning engineers will primarily be responsible for:

  • Delivering BMS installations and upgrade projects.
  • Completing controller replacements and panel modifications.
  • Commissioning controllers, field devices and integrated systems.
  • Testing control strategies and system operation.
  • Coordinating with project managers, electrical contractors and mechanical contractors.
  • Producing commissioning records and handover documentation.
  • Supporting witnessing, demonstrations and client handover.

BMS Software and Graphics Engineers

Software and graphics engineers will primarily be responsible for:

  • Producing and modifying BMS software and control strategies.
  • Developing and updating supervisor graphics.
  • Configuring alarms, trends, schedules and user access.
  • Integrating controllers and third-party systems.
  • Supporting head-end upgrades and system migrations.
  • Testing completed software and documenting changes.

EMS and Energy Engineers

EMS and energy engineers will primarily be responsible for:

  • Supporting energy-monitoring and metering systems.
  • Integrating meters and other energy-related equipment.
  • Reviewing building and utility-consumption data.
  • Producing dashboards, reports and analytics.
  • Investigating data-quality and communication issues.
  • Identifying practical opportunities to improve building performance.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates should have:

  • Previous experience working with BMS, controls or energy-management systems.
  • A good understanding of building services and HVAC control.
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving abilities relevant to their discipline.
  • The ability to work independently and manage site responsibilities.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • A professional approach when working with clients and other contractors.
  • A full UK driving licence.
  • The right to work in the United Kingdom.

Desirable Experience

Experience in any of the following would be beneficial:

  • Trend IQ controllers and IQ Vision.
  • Tridium Niagara N4.
  • Siemens building-control systems.
  • Optergy Enterprise.
  • BACnet IP, BACnet MSTP and Modbus.
  • BMS networks, supervisors and remote connections.
  • Controls integration, metering or energy analytics.
  • Relevant electrical, controls or building-services qualifications.

Experience with every platform is not required. We welcome applications from engineers who specialise in one system or engineering discipline, as well as those with broader experience.
