Building Safety Manager

A leading housing association in the London area is looking to appoint an experienced Building Safety Manager to support the effective management and delivery of building safety across its residential property portfolio.

This is an excellent opportunity for a building safety professional to take responsibility for ensuring buildings are safe, compliant and effectively managed, with a particular focus on higher-risk buildings, fire safety, risk management and resident engagement.

You will play a key role in implementing the organisation's building safety policies and procedures, ensuring statutory and regulatory requirements are met, and maintaining robust systems for identifying, managing and reducing building safety risks.

The role will suit a technically strong and proactive professional with experience in social housing or a complex residential environment, who can coordinate safety-critical activities, work effectively with internal teams and external specialists, and ensure building safety risks are managed through to resolution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee building safety arrangements across a designated portfolio of residential buildings, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and regulatory requirements.
  • Support the implementation and ongoing development of the organisation's Building Safety Strategy, policies, procedures and management systems.
  • Ensure compliance with the Building Safety Act, Fire Safety Act, Fire Safety Regulations and associated residential building safety requirements.
  • Coordinate building safety activities for higher-risk buildings (HRBs), including the maintenance of building safety information, safety case documentation and relevant regulatory submissions.
  • Oversee the identification, assessment, monitoring and mitigation of building safety risks, ensuring appropriate control measures are in place.
  • Coordinate and monitor Fire Risk Assessments (FRAs), building safety inspections, fire safety actions and associated remedial works.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date building safety records, ensuring relevant information is available to support compliance, risk management and regulatory assurance.
  • Monitor outstanding safety actions, ensuring remedial works are prioritised according to risk and progressed through to satisfactory completion.
  • Support the preparation, review and maintenance of Safety Cases and Safety Case Reports, where applicable, ensuring they accurately demonstrate how building safety risks are being managed.
  • Work closely with Asset Management, Repairs, Compliance, Development, Property Services and Customer teams to ensure building safety issues are identified and addressed effectively.
  • Manage relationships with fire risk assessors, building safety consultants, contractors and other specialist advisers, monitoring the quality and progress of their work.
  • Support the management of building safety incidents, investigations, risk escalations and corrective actions, ensuring issues are appropriately recorded and resolved.
  • Contribute to building safety audits, compliance reporting, performance monitoring and assurance processes, identifying gaps and recommending improvements.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
