Principal People are delighted to be partnering exclusively with a well-established Housing Association to recruit a Building Safety Surveyor as part of the continued growth of its Building Compliance team.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join an organisation investing heavily in its homes and people.

You'll manage a diverse housing portfolio, working within a supportive, expanding compliance team where you'll play a key role in improving resident safety while helping shape the future of the Building Safety function.

With strong backing from senior leadership, genuine career progression, and hybrid working across Surrey and the surrounding areas (with no overnight stays), this role offers real variety and impact.

The Role

Reporting to the Head of Health & Safety & Building Compliance, you'll help ensure homes remain safe, compliant and well maintained by:

  • Leading building compliance activities, with a focus on fire safety, building safety and water safety, while supporting asbestos compliance.
  • Managing specialist compliance contractors and building strong relationships with residents and internal stakeholders.
  • Supporting Higher-Risk Buildings (HRBs) through inspections, risk assessment reviews and technical guidance.
  • Driving continuous improvement across the Building Safety function and ensuring compliance with current legislation.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
