SENIOR BUILDING SERVICES ENGINEER

HS2 Complex Infrastructure Buildings

We are recruiting a Senior Building Services Engineer to support the delivery of a long-term programme of routewide assets across HS2.

The project covers nine reinforced-concrete buildings, including tunnel shafts, portal buildings, and pumping stations. The technical scope includes HV/LV power, ventilation, smoke control, BMS/SCADA, communications, fire systems, lighting, public health, lifts, and architectural fit-out.

Your Responsibilities Will Include

  • Coordinate multidisciplinary building-services packages
  • Review mechanical and electrical designs and contractor submissions
  • Manage interfaces between services, structures, and architectural elements
  • Support procurement and technical approvals
  • Provide engineering input during site installation
  • Respond to technical queries and proposed design changes
  • Identify buildability and coordination risks
  • Monitor quality and compliance
  • Support testing, commissioning, and integrated systems activities
  • Liaise with subcontractors, designers, and client representatives
  • Assist with handover planning and completion documentation
  • Provide guidance to junior engineers and delivery teams

We Are Looking For Candidates With

  • Considerable building-services or MEP engineering experience
  • A mechanical, electrical, or multidisciplinary technical background
  • Experience supporting design and construction delivery
  • Strong knowledge of interfaces and service coordination
  • Ability to review technical drawings and submissions
  • Understanding of testing, commissioning, and quality assurance
  • Experience with a main contractor, consultant, or MEP specialist

Candidates do not need to have previous rail experience. This role offers professionals from main-build and building-services environments an opportunity to move into nationally significant infrastructure, structures, and civil engineering.
