Building Services Engineer

Location: UK Remote - Mobile

Working Period: Full-time / Permanent

Reports to: Building Services Manager

Salary: Up to £60,000 depending on Experience

You will be working as a national mobile technical support specialist across the Yugo Operated Managed Estate portfolio of circa 100 properties across the UK. You will assist the Building Services Manager in the delivery of the following services:

  • Provision of support to the Building Services / FM Support Team and associated Stakeholders to contribute to the consistent specification, arrangement, scheduling, delivery, recording and reporting of Managed Estate planned and reactive maintenance works, emergency building works and project works as allocated.
  • The undertaking of Acceptance into Service activities; to include design and specification review / H&S File review/ functional testing / witnessing / observation / review / recording and reporting of performance. Including related snagging / construction and design related defects identification duties (including latent items, patterns of failure, material and equipment choices, etc).
  • Participation within the identification of Estate related technical issues and the undertaking of detailed investigations and reviews where instructed and / or as become necessary.
  • The provision of professional reports addressing identified estates issues, referencing applicable Statute, Regulations, ACoPs, Standards, Guidance (OEM, Product, Professional Institute, Trade Body, etc) and Good Industry Practice.
  • Actively participate within the registration, tracking and reporting of building and service defects / operational and maintenance difficulties, including their causality and subsequent property owner notifications. The identification of Potential Solutions / Costs / Proposals to address Estate/ Premises Specific issues; to include remediation business case collations, budgetary estimations, CAPEX project registrations and budget submissions. Where remedial works become sanctioned else undertaken by the property owners / fund managers; track remedial works progress (keeping record of long term property / services liabilities and risk to Yugo / Client Risks).
  • The undertaking of, and assistance within desktop H&S File reviews, data gathering and data analysis / reporting tasks.
  • The undertaking of desktop and physical site asset surveys to establish – Asset Types, Asset Quantities, Asset Conditions and the Provision of Premises Specific and Estate Wide Asset Schedules.
  • The provision of technical support and advice across a wide spectrum of building services (Building Fabric, Mechanical, Electrical and Control Systems).
  • The generation of assigned project work package and associated contract scopes / specifications.
  • The undertaking of assigned Requests for Quotation / Tender of project works (e.g. lifecycle replacement works, latent defects remediation works, estate / asset improvement works (e.g. ESG energy efficiency improvement works, lifecycle replacement, etc).
  • The provision of bottom-up cost estimations (using SPONS, CIBSE, IET, RICS/BCIS Guides) to support Estate lifecycle replacement works budgeting and project works estimating.
  • Input to, maintenance of and reporting of Premises specific backlog and lifecycle works registers.
  • The management of specialist subcontractors where required, ensuring work is carried out in compliance with all legislative and Yugo health, safety and environmental policies, procedures and proforma.
  • Any other duties as become reasonably required, requested and fall within the capabilities of the Building Services Engineer.

  • Relevant qualification (Technical / Building Services degree level or equivalent).
  • Previous experience in a Building Services Engineers role for a large multi-client estate.
  • Knowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental legislation, Construction and Design Management and the Management of Contractors.
  • Knowledge of UK Building Regulations, British / Harmonized Standards, Professional Institute Standards and Guidance, and associated UK Legislation.
  • Excellent Analytical skills.
  • Good organizational and planning skills.
  • Ability to deliver against multiple priorities or projects simultaneously, progressing all tasks to completion.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
