At MTC Training, our vision is to develop future-ready skills, knowledge, and behaviours that support the long-term success of UK industry. We are looking for an experienced Building Services Engineering Trainer & Skills Coach to join our Curriculum Team and play a key role in developing the next generation of skilled professionals.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a strong Building Services Engineering background who is passionate about sharing their expertise, supporting apprentices, and helping learners achieve their full potential.

About The Role

As a Building Services Engineering Trainer & Skills Coach, you will deliver engaging and innovative training across Building Services Engineering apprenticeship programmes, supporting learners both in the classroom and within their workplace environments.

You will manage a caseload of apprentices, guiding them throughout their learning journey, conducting progress reviews, assessing competence, and helping them develop the technical knowledge, skills, and behaviours required for successful completion of their apprenticeship.

Alongside programme delivery, you will contribute to curriculum development, ensuring training remains aligned with current industry practices and emerging technologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver Level 2 and Level 3 Building Services Engineering training and assessment.
  • Manage and support a caseload of apprentices throughout their programme.
  • Conduct apprentice reviews and monitor learner progress against apprenticeship standards.
  • Assess knowledge, skills, and behaviours and develop action plans where required.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to support learner development.
  • Create and develop learning materials, schemes of work, and assessment resources.
  • Monitor apprentice off-the-job training and funding compliance requirements.
  • Build strong relationships with employers and stakeholders.
  • Promote learner welfare, safeguarding, health and safety, and wellbeing.
  • Contribute to curriculum enhancement and continuous improvement activities.

What We're Looking For

Essential Requirements

  • Level 3 qualification in Building Services Engineering or a related discipline (or Level 2 qualification with significant industry experience).
  • Strong industry experience within Building Services Engineering.
  • Teaching qualification, or willingness to work towards one.
  • Assessor qualification (A1, CAVA, or equivalent), or willingness to gain one.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to inspire, mentor, and motivate learners.

Industry Experience In Areas Such As

  • Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems.
  • Sustainable and low-carbon technologies.
  • Solar, rainwater harvesting, and heat recovery systems.
  • Testing and commissioning activities.
  • Maintenance and servicing of building services systems.
  • Decommissioning of engineering systems.

Desirable

  • Apprenticeship delivery experience.
  • Knowledge of apprenticeship standards and funding rules.
  • Quality assurance qualifications (V1/IQA).
  • Coaching qualifications.
  • Higher-level engineering qualification.
  • Experience using Smart Assessor, ProMonitor, or similar learner management systems.

You will combine technical expertise with excellent coaching skills and a commitment to delivering high-quality learner experiences.
