Barford Primary School is seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated Building Services Manager to lead the management, maintenance and security of our school site.
Permanent, Full time.
Term time plus 3 weeks.
Salary: £28,598 - £34,434
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who takes pride in creating a safe, welcoming and well-maintained environment where children can thrive.
As a key member of our school team, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the premises, overseeing site maintenance, security, health and safety compliance, contractors, cleaning services and building improvement projects.
About The Role
The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring our school buildings and grounds remain safe, secure and fit for purpose. The role offers a varied workload, combining practical hands-on maintenance with the management of compliance, contractors and site services.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing the efficient day-to-day running of the school site.
- Overseeing maintenance, cleaning, security and facilities services.
- Coordinating contractors and building improvement projects.
- Managing health and safety compliance, including statutory inspections and record-keeping.
- Supporting sustainability and environmental initiatives across the site.
- Ensuring the security of the premises, including keyholding responsibilities.
- Monitoring and maintaining school grounds to a high standard.
- Working closely with school leaders to support ongoing site development and improvement.

We Are Looking for Someone Who:
- Has experience in premises, facilities, maintenance, site management or a similar role.
- Possesses practical trade skills, including carpentry, basic plumbing, decorating and general repairs, with the ability to undertake small and medium-scale building renovations safely, compliantly and cost-effectively.
- Can identify maintenance issues and find practical solutions that minimise disruption to the school day.
- Has a strong understanding of Health & Safety, COSHH, risk assessments and statutory compliance requirements.
- Has excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Can effectively manage contractors, budgets and competing priorities.
- Is able to work independently while also being an integral part of a wider school team.
- Takes pride in maintaining a safe, clean and welcoming environment for children, staff and visitors.
