Building Surveyor / Domestic Energy Assessor
Location: Salisbury, Dorset & surrounding areas
Engagement: Survey-based / flexible workload
The Opportunity
We’re looking for experienced Building Surveyors / Domestic Energy Assessors to support a residential property surveying programme across Salisbury, Dorset and the surrounding areas.
You’ll be carrying out residential property condition surveys and Domestic Energy Assessments (EPCs), identifying defects, recording findings accurately and providing practical recommendations for remedial works.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced surveyor who enjoys working independently, managing their own diary and delivering accurate, high-quality survey information.
Payment is £85 per completed survey, rather than an hourly rate.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Carry out detailed residential condition surveys and property inspections
- Assess building fabric and identify defects or areas requiring remedial works
- Record findings through photographs, measurements and clear written descriptions
- Provide practical repair and maintenance recommendations
- Complete Domestic Energy Assessments / EPCs where required
- Maintain accurate survey information and contribute to property asset records
- Collect information to support asset management, capital planning and compliance
- Interpret drawings and existing property information where required
- Work professionally and respectfully within occupied residential properties
- Maintain high standards of health, safety, accuracy and quality

What We’re Looking For
Essential:
- Domestic Energy Assessor (DEA) qualification
- Previous experience in residential property inspections, condition surveys or building surveying
- Good knowledge of building construction, building fabric and common property defects
- Understanding of practical repair and maintenance requirements
- Confident taking site measurements, photographs and detailed survey notes
- Strong written communication and report-writing skills
- Ability to interpret drawings and technical information
- Organised and able to manage survey workloads independently
- Professional approach when dealing with residents and other stakeholders
- Willingness to obtain BPSS and DBS clearance as part of the onboarding process

Desirable:
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Building Surveying or a related discipline
- Experience delivering residential housing or property condition survey programmes
- Experience using asset registers or property management databases
Working Arrangement
The hiring office is based in Cardiff, but this requirement is specifically focused on surveyors who are based in or around Salisbury, Dorset and the surrounding areas.
The role is survey-based, with payment of £85 for each completed survey. This is not an hourly-paid position.
You’ll have the opportunity to manage your own workload and diary while completing surveys across a defined geographical area.
