Role Description
The Building Surveyor role at WESSEX SURVEYING LIMITED is a full-time, on-site position based in Bridport. The role involves carrying out building condition surveys, preparing detailed reports, and advising clients on maintenance, repair, and compliance issues. Daily tasks include:

- Visiting properties
- Assessing building fabric and services
- Conducting feasibility studies for proposed works or refurbishments
- Managing contracts
- Liaising with contractors and stakeholders
- Overseeing project delivery to ensure quality, cost control, and adherence to timelines
- Handling dilapidations matters
- Preparing schedules
- Supporting clients with negotiations and remedial works

Qualifications
- Strong technical skills in Building Surveying, including property inspection and report writing.
- Experience conducting Condition Surveys and Feasibility Studies to support maintenance and development decisions.
- Knowledge of Contract Management practices, including tender processes, project administration, and site supervision.
- Experience with Dilapidations, including preparing schedules, advising on liabilities, and supporting negotiation processes.
- Relevant professional qualification in building surveying or a related discipline (e.g., degree or equivalent experience).
- Membership or working toward membership of a professional body (e.g., RICS or similar) is desirable.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective communication skills for working with clients, contractors, and colleagues, both in person and in writing.
- Good IT skills, including familiarity with surveying software and standard office applications.
- Ability to work independently on-site and manage multiple projects and deadlines safely and responsibly.
