Building Surveyor Gloucester
We are looking for an experienced Building Surveyor to join an established property and surveying team based in Gloucester.
This is an excellent opportunity for a surveyor looking to work across a varied portfolio of commercial and/or residential properties, providing professional advice on building condition, defects, maintenance, and refurbishment.
The role would suit someone who enjoys a combination of technical surveying, client advice, and project work.
The Role
As a Building Surveyor, you will provide professional surveying advice across a varied range of properties and projects.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Carrying out building surveys, inspections, and condition assessments
- Identifying defects and providing recommendations for remedial works
- Preparing detailed survey reports and schedules of condition
- Advising clients on planned and reactive maintenance requirements
- Preparing specifications and schedules of works
- Obtaining and reviewing contractor quotations
- Assisting with tender processes and contractor appointments
- Monitoring refurbishment, repair, and maintenance projects
- Carrying out site inspections and monitoring works against agreed specifications
- Advising clients on building-related issues and potential risks
- Preparing budget estimates and cost advice where required
- Managing multiple instructions and projects through to completion
- Liaising with clients, contractors, consultants, and other professional advisers
- Providing clear, practical, and commercially focused advice
- Maintaining accurate project and client records
- Ensuring work is completed in accordance with relevant legislation, professional standards, and health and safety requirements

About You
We're looking for a technically capable Building Surveyor with relevant professional experience and a strong understanding of building construction and pathology.
You should have:
- Previous experience working as a Building Surveyor or in a similar surveying role
- Strong knowledge of building construction, defects, and maintenance
- Experience carrying out property inspections and preparing professional reports
- Experience with schedules of works and specifications
- Good understanding of refurbishment and maintenance projects
- Strong communication and report-writing skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Strong organisational and project-management abilities
- The ability to manage multiple instructions and deadlines
- A practical and client-focused approach

The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be a practical and technically strong Building Surveyor who is comfortable working independently while maintaining strong relationships with clients and other professionals.
You'll be confident identifying building defects, explaining technical issues clearly, and providing realistic recommendations that balance quality, cost, and practicality.
This role would suit a Building Surveyor, Chartered Building Surveyor, or experienced Surveyor looking for their next opportunity in Gloucester.
