Building Surveyor

Location: Preston, North West

Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 + Annual Bonus

Hybrid Working: 2 Days Office / 3 Days WFH

The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Building Surveyor to join a growing consultancy team in Preston. This role offers the chance to work on a diverse range of residential and commercial projects across the North West, providing professional surveying and project management services to a varied client base.

The successful candidate will be involved in delivering building surveys, contract administration, project management, and professional consultancy services while working closely with clients, contractors, architects, and other key stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct building surveys and site inspections across residential and commercial properties.
  • Identify building defects, structural issues, maintenance requirements, and potential risks.
  • Prepare detailed survey reports, specifications, schedules of work, and recommendations.
  • Manage construction and refurbishment projects from inception through to completion.
  • Administer construction contracts, including JCT forms of contract.
  • Monitor project programmes, budgets, costs, and financial reporting.
  • Ensure projects comply with building regulations, planning requirements, and industry standards.
  • Provide professional advice to clients regarding property condition, maintenance, refurbishment, and compliance matters.
  • Liaise with clients, contractors, consultants, and project stakeholders throughout project delivery.
  • Attend client meetings, project reviews, and site visits as required.

About You

Essential

  • Degree in Building Surveying or a related discipline.
  • 5 Years experience - Delivered/managed projects on site
  • Strong knowledge of building construction, defects diagnosis, and building regulations.
  • Experience preparing technical reports and specifications.
  • Strong communication and client-facing skills.
  • Excellent organisational and time management abilities.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Desirable

  • MRICS qualified or working towards chartership.
  • Experience administering JCT contracts.
  • Experience managing refurbishment or construction projects.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, project management software, and Microsoft Office.
