Job Introduction

What You’ll Do

At Notting Hill Genesis, we’re committed to providing safe, high-quality homes where residents can thrive. As a Building Surveyor within our Disrepair Team, you’ll play a pivotal role in protecting our residents, reducing disrepair claims, and ensuring our homes are maintained to the highest possible standard.

You’ll take ownership of a varied caseload of disrepair matters, carrying out detailed property inspections, diagnosing building defects, preparing technical specifications and managing complex repair projects from inception through to completion.

Working closely with legal teams, contractors, operational colleagues and residents, you’ll ensure that works are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest quality, helping us minimise future disrepair through proactive surveying and continuous improvement.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced surveyor who enjoys solving complex technical issues, delivering outstanding customer service and making a tangible difference to residents’ homes.

How You’ll Do It

  • Undertake detailed inspections of homes to investigate disrepair cases, identify building defects and determine appropriate remedial solutions.
  • Produce comprehensive technical reports, specifications, schedules of work and cost estimates.
  • Manage disrepair cases from initial inspection through to successful completion, ensuring residents remain informed throughout.
  • Oversee contractors on site, ensuring repairs are completed safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards.
  • Carry out post-inspections and quality assurance checks to ensure completed works meet NHG’s standards.
  • Manage complex repair projects, balancing quality, cost and timescales whilst delivering excellent customer outcomes.
  • Ensure all works comply with relevant legislation, including Health & Safety, CDM Regulations and statutory compliance requirements.
  • Investigate technical issues and recommend long-term solutions that reduce recurring defects and future disrepair.
  • Work collaboratively with Housing, Repairs, Asset Management and Legal colleagues to achieve the best outcomes for residents.
  • Monitor contractor performance, ensuring value for money, excellent workmanship and continuous service improvement.
  • Share technical knowledge and best practice across the wider Surveying team to improve organisational capability.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
