Architect / Building Surveyor / Building Engineer – Design Manager / Project Engineer

Location: Southwark / Stratford / Hybrid
Working: 50% home working / 50% office and site-based
Contract: 6 months initially
Start Date: ASAP
Rate: Dependent on experience and competency

The Role

We are looking for an experienced Architect, Building Surveyor, or Building Engineer with Design Management experience to support London Underground Renewals.

You will work as a Design Manager / Project Engineer, coordinating different engineering disciplines, managing design information, and supporting the London Underground assurance process.

This is a varied role involving office, home, and site-based working within a multidisciplinary engineering team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate design and engineering activities across different disciplines.
  • Support the delivery of London Underground renewal projects.
  • Manage design interfaces and technical information.
  • Support the London Underground assurance process.
  • Review designs and technical documents.
  • Work with engineers, designers, contractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Attend site visits and project meetings.
  • Help identify and resolve technical and design issues.

You will ideally have:

  • Experience as an Architect, Building Surveyor, or Building Engineer.
  • Strong Design Management experience.
  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams.
  • Good technical and communication skills.
  • Experience working within a formal assurance or governance process.
  • RIBA, RICS, or MCIOB qualification/membership.

Desirable

  • Previous rail or London Underground experience.
  • Experience with renewal, refurbishment, or infrastructure projects.
  • Knowledge of rail assurance processes.
