Pattern of Work

36.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday

What You Need To Know About The Role

We are looking for a Buildings & Estate Facilities Maintenance Engineer to join our Engineering Infrastructure team at British Steel's Scunthorpe site.

Reporting to the Engineering Manager - Site Infrastructure, you will play a key role in maintaining and improving the roads, drainage systems, buildings and estate assets that support the largest integrated iron and steel manufacturing facility in England.

This is a varied and challenging role where you will manage maintenance and refurbishment projects, oversee contractors, provide technical expertise and ensure infrastructure assets are maintained safely, reliably and cost effectively. You will work closely with stakeholders across the business to deliver engineering solutions that support operational performance and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the maintenance and repair of roads, drainage systems, buildings and estate infrastructure assets.
  • Develop and deliver maintenance plans, asset management strategies and improvement programmes.
  • Scope, procure and supervise refurbishment, renovation and major repair projects.
  • Manage contractors and service providers to ensure work is delivered safely, efficiently and to agreed standards.
  • Lead and promote a strong health, safety and environmental culture.
  • Manage maintenance contracts and budgets within agreed targets.
  • Provide technical support and guidance on building maintenance, facilities management and civil engineering matters.
  • Support asset integrity, defect elimination and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain asset information and engineering systems using SAP and other business tools.
  • Build effective relationships with internal stakeholders, external agencies, utility providers and contractors.

What We Need To Know About You

  • Degree qualified in Facilities Management, Building Maintenance, Civil Engineering or a related discipline, or HNC/equivalent supported by significant relevant experience.
  • Significant experience managing buildings and facilities maintenance within a large organisation, industrial site or estate.
  • Strong knowledge of building maintenance, facilities management, project delivery and contractor management.
  • IOSH Managing Safely qualification or equivalent.
  • Excellent communication, planning and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver projects safely, on time and within budget.
  • Experience within heavy industry, manufacturing, engineering or similarly complex environments would be advantageous.
  • Knowledge of SAP is desirable but not essential, as training will be provided.
