Buildings Technician
The Buildings Technician plays a key role in ensuring the safe, reliable and efficient operation of HVAC, refrigeration and building services equipment across our site. Working in line with established maintenance and reliability processes, you will be responsible for carrying out high-quality maintenance and repair activities that support asset integrity, operational performance and safety.
This role requires a strong technical background, with the ability to accurately interpret electrical schematic drawings and confidently diagnose and resolve electrical faults. You will be committed to delivering work to the highest standard while promoting a culture of safety, reliability and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and rectify faults on HVAC, refrigeration and building services equipment, identifying the root cause of failures and recommending reliability improvements.
- Deliver high-quality repairs with a focus on first-time fix and zero rework.
- Execute maintenance activities using the safest and most efficient methods.
- Complete planned preventative maintenance (PPM) reports accurately, on time and with clear, detailed information.
- Maintain the highest safety standards, ensuring compliance with permits, risk assessments, method statements, safety procedures and Material Safety Data Sheets.
- Respond promptly and effectively to emergency and priority repair requests.
- Carry out equipment inspections and provide recommendations to optimise performance and reliability.
- Perform repairs and replacements on electrical water heaters and boilers.
- Repair and replace toxic dampers and associated systems.
- Maintain and repair commercial kitchen and catering equipment.
- Carry out maintenance and repair activities on non-plant electrical equipment across the site and offsite facilities.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and contractors to ensure maintenance activities are completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

Required
- Legal right to live and work in the UK.
- Discipline qualification (City & Guilds, S/NVQ Level 3 or equivalent).
- Qualification in Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning.
- Qualification in F-Gas.
- Full, valid UK driving licence.
- Ability to accurately read and interpret electrical schematic drawings.
- Strong electrical fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
- Proven maintenance experience within an industrial, commercial or plant environment.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organisational and time-management abilities.
- A collaborative team player with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Preferred
- Experience of working in the Petrochemical industry.

As a part of the UK Government’s net zero ambition, the Humber Refinery is on a journey to become the Refinery of the Future. With proposed plans for a number of projects including to implement a first-of-a-kind FCC carbon capture project, the Humber Refinery is part of Humber Zero, a world-scale concept to reduce UK industry carbon emissions, saving up to 8 million tonnes of CO2 by 2030 from the Immingham industrial area.
On top of this, the Humber Refinery is the UK’s only refiner producing Sustainable Aviation Fuel at scale. It is also the only European facility producing battery anode coke, which forms a critical component for lithium-ion batteries used in electrical vehicles and in consumer electronics. Our current production of battery anode coke is equivalent to placing 1.3 million EVs on the road every year, and we are developing multiple projects to expand this capability.
