You’ll also lead and develop a team of Commercial Officers and work closely with colleagues across operations, finance, marketing and digital to turn ideas and opportunities into practical, deliverable improvements. It’s a great opportunity for someone who enjoys combining commercial thinking, data and people leadership to make a visible difference to both customers and the wider business.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Leading the planning and scheduling of our bus network, including the development of timetables, driver duties and rosters.
- Using customer, market and performance data to identify opportunities to improve services and commercial performance.
- Monitoring key commercial measures, spotting emerging trends, risks and opportunities and turning insight into action.
- Overseeing costings and the preparation of strong, commercially competitive bids for contracted services.
- Working closely with operational teams to make sure network plans are practical, understood and successfully delivered.
- Building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including depot teams, local stakeholders and Trade Union representatives.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
