About the Team and Role

Our Disabled Children’s Team is dedicated to improving outcomes for children and young people and their families, we work collaboratively across social care and health to provide high quality support.

We have an opportunity to recruit an experienced Business Administration Lead who is organised and proactive to join us on a permanent basis. This role will manage a team of Business Support Administrators who offer administration support to Social Workers and Managers. The Business Administration Lead will have a lead role in ensuring care package providers receive accurate and timely payments which are essential to support continued delivery of essential services for children and young people. This will include overseeing all areas of financial transactions that are made within the team including, invoices, direct payments, purchase cards and bacs payments. This post will be based in Shire Hall Gloucester.

Duties will include:

  • Supervision with team members and completion of Personal Development Reviews
  • Performance and Absence Management
  • Use of financial data to drive performance
  • Quality assurance oversight to financial trackers
  • Work closely with commissioning colleagues to ensure contracts are maintained
  • Attend query meetings to understand and rectify delays in payment
  • Manage capacity to ensure operational admin support is delivered in line with service need

About You

As a Business Administration Lead, you will work closely with the Head of Service, Service Manager, commissioning colleagues and strategic finance teams. Ideally you will have experience of working within children’s services, social care, education or the public sector. You will have a keen interest in finance, understand how financial decisions impact the wider objectives and performance and be solution focused.

Working in Children’s Social Care does require an applicant who can be proactive or responsive to changing demands and resilient to some of the tough emotional content of the role. However, it is also a role that can bring great reward and job satisfaction.
