Business Administration Apprentice

Summary

We are looking for a proactive, hardworking individual who enjoys working as part of a team and takes pride in delivering excellent service to both internal colleagues and external clients. You will be organised, reliable, and keen to learn, with a positive attitude and strong attention to detail.

Wage: £14,560 a year

Work

What you'll do at work

  • Managing and maintaining company files and records
  • Booking in new files and ensuring they are processed accurately
  • Assigning files to the appropriate team members
  • Updating databases and records in a timely manner
  • Drafting professional letters, emails, and other correspondence
  • Checking, preparing, and creating invoices
  • Assisting colleagues with project work, including the firm's marketing and recruitment
  • Arranging deliveries and collections as required
  • Liaising with consultants, clients, and other external contacts
  • Answering and transferring telephone calls in a professional manner
  • Supporting the day-to-day running of a busy office environment
  • Checking and progressing solicitor claims through an official government digital platform
  • Liaising internally and externally with Chambers/Solicitors/Costs draftspersons/Legal Aid Agency regarding billing queries
  • Learning legal concepts and theory
  • Calculating figures and creating reports
  • Monitoring claim deadlines
  • Working collaboratively as part of a team while also managing individual responsibilities

What you'll learn

Skilled in the use of multiple IT packages and systems relevant to the organisation in order to:

  • write letters or emails, create proposals, perform financial processes, record and analyse data. Examples include MS Office or equivalent packages.
  • Able to choose the most appropriate IT solution to suit the business problem.
  • Able to update and review databases, record information and produce data analysis where required.
  • Produces accurate records and documents including: emails, letters, files, payments, reports and proposals.
  • Makes recommendations for improvements and present solutions to management.
  • Drafts correspondence, writes reports and able to review others' work.
  • Maintains records and files, handles confidential information in compliance with the organisation's procedures.
  • Coaches others in the processes required to complete these tasks.
  • Exercises proactivity and good judgement.
  • Makes effective decisions based on sound reasoning and is able to deal with challenges in a mature way.
  • Seeks advice of more experienced team members when appropriate.
  • Builds and maintains positive relationships within their own team and across the organisation.
  • Demonstrates ability to influence and challenge appropriately.
  • Becomes a role model to peers and team members, developing coaching skills as they gain area knowledge.
  • Demonstrates good communication skills, whether face-to-face, on the telephone, in writing or on digital platforms.

  • Manages resources e.g. equipment or facilities.
  • Organises meetings and events, takes minutes during meetings and creates action logs as appropriate.
  • Takes responsibility for logistics e.g. travel and accommodation.
  • Uses relevant project management principles and tools to scope, plan, monitor and report.
  • Plans required resources to successfully deliver projects.
  • Undertakes and leads projects as and when required.

Training schedule

We host supporting workshops regularly throughout the apprenticeship which you will attend in person at our designated training site/campus. These workshops are carefully designed to support the learning required throughout the apprenticeship programme. You will work with expert assessors and tutors to develop new knowledge, skills and behaviours within the profession. You will experience a blended learning model.

With clients at the heart of everything we do, we are committed to delivering a high-quality service and building lasting professional relationships. We currently have an exciting opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our Operations Team at our Head Office in South Normanton.

This is a varied role where no two days are the same, offering the opportunity to develop new skills and gain valuable experience. You will receive ongoing support from your supervisor and the wider Operations Team throughout your apprenticeship. As a key part of our front line Operations Team, you will have a varied and hands-on role. You will be in regular contact with our solicitor clients, booking in new work, allocating cases across the team, helping to manage workloads, issuing invoices, and getting involved with our marketing and social media activity. There will also be the opportunity to spend time working within our Processing Department, where you will help to check and progress claims through an official government platform. This will involve liaising with solicitors and other relevant parties, while developing your knowledge and understanding of legal processes and concepts.
