Business Administrator Apprenticeship

Providing administrative support to the Planning and Scheduling function, you'll gain experience in purchasing, production planning, and general business administration.

You'll support efficient business operations through accurate administration, effective communication, and coordination of information across all our functions.

What you'll do at work

Scheduling Support

  • Assist with production scheduling administration
  • Update ERP planning information
  • Prepare production reports
  • Support work order administration
  • Monitor schedule changes

Purchasing Support

  • Raise purchase orders
  • Maintain supplier records
  • Track supplier deliveries
  • Support stock replenishment
  • Update purchasing information within the ERP system

Business Administration

  • Prepare reports and spreadsheets
  • Maintain business records
  • Support document control activities
  • Coordinate meetings
  • Manage filing systems
  • Provide reception and telephone support when required

General Support

  • Assist all departments as required
  • Support continuous improvement projects
  • Maintain confidentiality of company information
  • Develop knowledge of manufacturing operations

What you'll learn

Course contents

Skilled in the use of multiple IT packages and systems relevant to the organisation in order to: write letters or emails, create proposals, perform financial processes, record and analyse data. Examples include MS Office or equivalent packages. Able to choose the most appropriate IT solution to suit the business problem. Able to update and review databases, record information, and produce data analysis where required.

Produces accurate records and documents including: emails, letters, files, payments, reports, and proposals. Makes recommendations for improvements and present solutions to management. Drafts correspondence, writes reports, and able to review others' work. Maintains records and files, handles confidential information in compliance with the organisation's procedures. Coaches others in the processes required to complete these tasks.

Exercises proactivity and good judgement. Makes effective decisions based on sound reasoning and is able to deal with challenges in a mature way. Seeks advice of more experienced team members when appropriate.

Builds and maintains positive relationships within their own team and across the organisation. Demonstrates ability to influence and challenge appropriately. Becomes a role model to peers and team members, developing coaching skills as they gain area knowledge.

Uses relevant project management principles and tools to scope, plan, monitor and report. Plans required resources to successfully deliver projects. Undertakes and leads projects as and when required.

Training schedule

The structure of the actual apprenticeship will be based on the relevant standards, and will be based on the relevant standards, and will be tailored to take account of the individual employer and apprentice's needs and wants. As a minimum, this will include:

  • Briefing and engagement sessions delivered by Bragd and the employer to explain the apprenticeship in more detail
  • An initial assessment of your level of relevant knowledge, skills and behaviours (KSBs) to allow a tailored, individualised programme to be developed
  • An initial assessment of your level of functional skills including English and mathematics
  • An individual learning plan (ILP) that describes the activities that will be completed as part of your learning journey
  • A structured programme of off the job training, learning and development activities that meet the ‘OTJ’ requirement, delivered by a team of experienced trainers and tutors
  • Ongoing 1-2-1 support from your employer and a dedicated tutor / mentor from Bragd
  • Regular assessment and signposting to help you keep you on track with developing the range of required knowledge, skills and behaviours
  • Quarterly progress reviews to recognise achievement, confirm additional support needs and identify next steps
  • Support and guidance to help you complete your end point assessment, where you will demonstrate the wide range of KSBs you have developed during your apprenticeship programme

More training information

An apprenticeship includes regular training with your training organisation

  • At least 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying
  • Once the training plan has been agreed, the structured training will take place at work, whilst the apprentice is employed
  • Our training partner, Bragd LLP, will deliver apprenticeship training

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

  • Maths, English, and Computer Science (grade 9 to 4)
  • Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.

Other requirements

This position is only open to applicants aged 18 and over as the site operates within a specialist aerospace manufacturing environment and includes the use of industrial equipment, machinery, and processes that require employees to meet specific health, safety, and operational requirements.
