I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

About this employer
We are a small, independent estate agency based in the heart of our local community. Our team currently consists of six people, including our two directors, which means we are a friendly and close-knit team where everyone plays an important part in the business.
Being a small agency means our clients receive a personal and professional service, and our staff are able to build strong relationships with the people we work with. We take pride in knowing our local area and providing honest, reliable advice to our customers.
For an apprentice joining our team, this is a great opportunity to learn directly from experienced members of the business and gain an understanding of all areas of estate agency. We are passionate about supporting people who are starting their careers and believe that the right attitude, willingness to learn, and commitment can take you a long way. As a small team, we work closely together and support one another, and we hope to find an apprentice who wants to become a valued member of our team and build a long-term career with us.
