Overview
The award-winning firm of Bailey Wright & Co. Solicitors is looking for a Business Administration Apprentice to join its small, busy, and highly effective team. The firm specializes in Children, Education, and Discrimination Law.
Wage
£15,000 a year. Wages are reviewed annually, but increases are not guaranteed.
Working Hours
- Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm, with 1 hour for lunch.
- Location: Branston Court, Branston Street, Birmingham B18 6BA.
- Duration: 1 year 6 months.
- Positions Available: 1.
Training
- Training Provider: The Apprentice Academy Limited.
- Course: Business administrator (level 3).
Training Details
Skilled in the use of multiple IT packages and systems relevant to the organization to:
- Write letters or emails, create proposals, perform financial processes, record and analyze data.
- Update and review databases, record information, and produce data analysis where required.
- Produce accurate records and documents including emails, letters, files, payments, reports, and proposals.
- Make recommendations for improvements and present solutions to management.
- Draft correspondence, write reports, and review others' work.
- Maintain records and files, handle confidential information in compliance with the organization's procedures.
- Coaches others in the processes required to complete these tasks.
- Exercises proactivity and good judgment.
- Makes effective decisions based on sound reasoning and deals with challenges in a mature way.
- Seeks advice from more experienced team members when appropriate.
- Builds and maintains positive relationships within their own team and across the organization.
- Demonstrates ability to influence and challenge appropriately.
- Becomes a role model to peers and team members, developing coaching skills as they gain area knowledge.
- Demonstrates good communication skills, whether face-to-face, on the telephone, in writing, or on digital platforms.
- Uses the most appropriate channels to communicate effectively.
- Demonstrates agility and confidence in communications, carrying authority appropriately.

Responsibilities
You would support the lawyers by undertaking the following tasks:
- Managing telephone calls on reception
- Using office equipment such as computers, printers, scanners, and photocopier
- Undertaking basic administration tasks such as dealing with post, linking documents to files, ensuring files are kept in good order, photocopying, and scanning documents
- Maintaining databases to ensure they are up to date and accurate
- Assisting in maintaining compliance with Lexcel standards
- Getting files ready for billing and assisting with the billing process
- Preparation of documents for Court (mainly Court bundles)
- Managing fee earners’ diaries
- Corresponding with third parties used by the firm
- Maintenance of files
- Typing for fee earners as and when required
- Collating and extracting information as required from files or other sources
- Ordering stationery
- Assisting with ensuring that the office is kept clean and tidy at all times

Requirements
- Essential Qualifications:
- GCSE in English (grade 5)
- GCSE in ICT (grade 5)
- GCSE in Maths (grade 5)
About the Employer
We are a small firm, based in the Jewellery Quarter, just outside Birmingham City Centre. We specialize in Children, Education, Employment, and Discrimination Law. Most of our work is covered by Legal Aid, which is funding provided by the government for people on low incomes. We have an excellent reputation and are very busy. After the Apprenticeship
Full-time job opportunity with prospects of further training as a paralegal/legal support assistant or in office management. Depending on how things go, you may also progress to training as a solicitor or legal executive. That will be up to you!
