Business Administration Modern Apprentice
Westhill, Aberdeenshire
Full Time, Fixed-Term
Nicol of Skene, a leading Civil Engineering, Horizontal Directional Drilling & Multi-Utility Contractor, is seeking a Business Administration Modern Apprentice to join our growing team.
This is an opportunity to begin a career in business administration, gaining practical workplace experience while working towards a recognised Business Administration qualification at SCQF Level 6.
You will work predominantly within our Operations department, supporting the administration and coordination of projects and day-to-day activities. During your apprenticeship, you will also gain experience across our Finance, HR, QHSE, Commercial, Yard and Stores teams, giving you an understanding of how the different areas of our business work together.
Full training and support will be provided, helping you develop your communication, organisational, IT and problem-solving skills alongside experienced colleagues.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide administrative support to the Operations team with the day-to-day coordination of projects and site activities.
- Prepare and update documents, spreadsheets, correspondence and reports.
- Maintain accurate records, filing systems and project information.
- Handle telephone and email enquiries professionally and pass information to the appropriate colleagues.
- Assist with arranging meetings, updating diaries and coordinating information between office and site teams.
- Gain experience in administrative tasks across Finance, HR, QHSE, Commercial, Yard and Stores.
- Follow company procedures, maintain confidentiality and promote a strong Health & Safety culture.
- Complete apprenticeship learning, assessments and portfolio work with support from your training provider and colleagues.

Working Pattern
- Contract Type: Apprenticeship, Full-time
- Duration: Two-year Apprenticeship Contract
- Working Hours:
- Monday, Tuesday & Thursday – 8.00am to 4.00pm
- Wednesday & Friday – 7.00am to 3.00pm
- Hours per week: 37.5 hours

Requirements
Skills & Experience:
- Genuine interest in business administration and developing a career within the construction industry.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Good numeracy skills and attention to detail.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Good organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow instructions.
- Willingness to ask questions, learn new skills and take on responsibility as your confidence develops.
- Proactive approach with a positive, can-do attitude.
- Reliable and professional manner
